Purdue looked SO strong the first 13 minutes or so. They couldn’t miss the basket, and the Haas kid was eating up Kansas. Kansas was actually scoring really well, too, but not superhumanly so. Purdue was scoring at a pace that would have generated a 101-point game for them if they could have kept it up. Purdue took its largest lead of the game with 6:50 left in the first half, at 33-25. From that point, Kansas scored three times what Purdue did for the rest of the half, and more than twice Purdue’s scoring over the rest of the game.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk! I was so impressed by Purdue in the first part of the game. It didn’t look like they could miss!
Ack. that Michigan/Oregon game broke my heart. Sometimes “Team of Destiny” really does mean only that you didnt die when the plane went off the runway. And that’s enough (though I’m sure they’re hurting bad now anyway.)
Oh, the shocked and disappointed looks on the Wisconsin team last night! What a game!!!
I kept falling asleep at the end of the FL-Wisconsin game, but woke up for the replays. Go Gators!
Best part of yesterday’s results is that we might get a temporary reprieve from the LaVar Ball promotional circus…at least until the middle son gets to UCLA next year.
Love SC’s coach, Frank Martin. He had a great and sweet response to an interview question from a kid reporter for SI Kids and an adult reporter got snarky about the time he took. The responses to the adult reporter are hilarious, with words I can’t use here on CC.
So, more knowledgeable CC parents: who should I root for, now that the Badgers are out?
South Carolina. That said, I fear the dreaded Kentucky is coming on strong. It also could be Gonzaga’s year!
In mourning for Wisconsin. What a game! Worth watching the last minutes and overtime. Lesson- learn to get those free throws all of the time!!!
My heart! My voice! My nerves! The UNC v UK game was so exciting at the end.
If the South Carolina Ladies win tonight’s game against Florida State, they will move from the Elite Eight into the Final Four just as the men did last night. Would be really cool to have a school (I’m biased) with both teams playing in the Final Four.
Nothing new; U Connecticut Mens and Womens teams did it a few years ago. Both won that year’s national championship. The two Duke teams came close one year. And both the teams at Gonzaga have done well in the tournament in recent years.
Well, it’s new for my school, that’s for sure (assuming it even happens).
Southmom- You are correct. It would be awesome and an incredible accomplishment. Despite the cold water LakeWashington dumped, it is NOT common.
Some people forget that this is a game and it’s not the end of the world if your team loses.
@alwaysamom You have no idea. It IS the end of the world if your team loses.
^yet you probably wouldn’t riot. http://nypost.com/2015/04/05/kentucky-fans-take-out-anger-by-rioting-after-loss-to-wisconsin/
Kentucky fans burn sofas and break TVs win or lose! It is a “difficult” fan base and one I hate to encounter here in Nashville. There are always issues when they come to town. The attacks on the referee are a new low, though.
Heartbroken for my Badgers but psyched for the Ducks!!! What a surprise!
