Then you need to ask them what makes your net cost what it is.
It’s possible that what you entered netted this price. It’s also possible there is a mistake. No way to tell. So…reach out and ask them.

Should i call them or email them?
Email, because you can attach evidence from the NPC, any message they sent you about it being accurate, and offer to submit more financial documents. Also, they know their reply will be evidence so they can’t throw words around nor can you end up with just a random person manning the phones.
There may be a mistake on their side… or on yours.
But, no matter what… Congratulations ![]()

Thanks. I hope I get enough scholarship
I would email. Best to have a written record of the correspondence.
Hope it works out.
Thanks
I am sending the email
Email with everything clearly in writing including attached images of the NPC and actual FA offer. Then call referencing the email if you do not get a prompt reply.
As you are working thru the FA issue with Northwestern, you should continue to move forward by completing/submitting the rest of your applications and financial aid forms. If the NU FA offer is as far off the NPC as you indicate, I would hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
So, meet the rest of the application/FA deadlines for the schools on your list. Do NOT decline any other acceptances yet or pull any EA applications. Let us know how U Chicago and CWRU EA results go.
Good luck with NU.
Thanks. I have been accepted to Reed college.
I received a response. They asked me to mail them if there has been a change in my financial situtation. How should i proceed?
Did you review the CSS line by line?
This sounds like a generic answer.
Nevertheless, you need to review everything, checking for an extra zero, or a , that became a . Or vice versa. Spend time on this.
Take a bit of time to do it well.
What gives them the impression that the situation you describe in your email is different from the one in the CSS?
Yep. Reviewed it line by line with my parents who used tax documents to verify. I will go over it once more
It sounds like NU is not understanding that the NPC result and the actual FA offer are significantly off. Did you directly state that and send a copy of the NPC estimate with your email?
Yes,i attached the results of the npc and the actual award. My coa is double the npc literally
Then reply to them that you are asking why the FA offer is so far off the NPC estimate. Use the real numbers for each…’the NPC showed an estimate of $30K while the financial aid offer is $60K, I’m trying to understand why these estimates are so different.’ State there is no change in your family’s financial situation (if that is the case.)
Okay. Thanks. I will do that
I’d say something like “No change in the family circumstances since we filled out the NPC, which was filled with the same values as the CSS”.
But before you email them DO check line by line for commas and periods and extra zeros (the mistake is very common).
Okay. Thanks, i will review once more with my parents and then submit a mail
