You don’t sound egotistical at all. You sound like someone who does not know enough about college- what it takes to get in, what it takes to stay in (you probably won’t be getting B’s if you don’t pay attention in class like you were able to do in HS), all the different cool things that people study in college and why those things matter.

And I’m concerned about your mental health as well. Do your parents really want you in a pressure cooker profession? Or a college which is itself a pressure cooker/intense?

Nobody can predict the labor markets 5 years from now. So best not to try. Figure out how to become the best version of yourself in college. Endlessly drilling for the SAT? Probably easier- and less draining- to do a comprehensive review of the math (actually learn the math, don’t just learn the “tricks” of how to outsmart the SAT) and read, read, read everything you can.

I’m sorry if your parents are fixated on what they believe to be a “prestigious” job. And high paying is relative. I’ve got family members who live in the Midwest and are “richer” working as a social worker married to a college reference librarian than their siblings who work in allegedly high paying careers in NYC-- which also means paying absurd amounts in rent, city taxes, and everything else.

Their actual discretionary incomes are probably equal after housing and taxes- and the midwestern house (a gorgeous, mid-century modern home in a beautiful suburb) is a lot nicer than the tiny NYC apartment with no parking space or storage.

Nothing wrong with wanting to make a nice salary. But don’t get trapped into believing that there is only ONE path (finance) and ONE career (I-Banking) and THREE cities (London, NYC, Hong Kong-- all high rent places) where you can be happy and fulfilled.

I mean im pretty naive. The only thing I really look for in a college is its us news ranking and its placement as a feeder for IB firms. So i guess that speaks to my naiveness. But my parents arent gonna support me financially nor generally if they dont approve of my degree or college, so its not like i have much of a choice.

This is the actual source I believe or a tremendous coincidence given identical rankings. @Publisher did your assistant have another source or was it a Google search that produced “college transitions”? I ask because I don’t want to misattribute if it’s another more reputable source.

We (meaning those who compete for IB undergraduates) typically rely on search firms and McLagan data provided by AON’s compensation consultancy. This costs money but is considered much more accurate than LinkedIn searches. I do not recommend relying on “college transitions” to make meaningful decisions.

I have previously posted about the flaws in the methodology. From that prior post about 2024 survey but the issues persist.

While it is representative it is hardly entirely accurate.

Don’t worry, you didnt sound egoistical. It really sounded like you didn’t know what it took to get a 1500, not that you were shouting off the rooftops “I’m a genius!” :hugs:
It’s fine, you’re a junior and you came here to learn. :+1:
Do you know Khan academy (online) to practice? For the SAT but also for APs. You can also download and app from the college board.

Yes I used khan to study for my ap stats and apush during the school year. but now I’m more focused on just doing the review material because there’s not a lot of time left and I doubt I can complete all khan units for apush, ap macro, and ap stats within 4-5 days.

Thank you for linking that citation. I have seen that site cited here before. And once again, those “lists” can be interesting, but may have flaws and limited utility.

Just complete the final tests and see how well you do, then review what you missed and only what you missed, from each unit.

Ah i see. Okay I will do this after I submit the review course material my teacher makes me do for classowrk.

Are you saying you are now taking honors Spanish 4? You didn’t list that in the courses you are taking.

My opinion. This is a poor way to choose a college, especially since by your own admission that you don’t know much about what IB is…and you only want to do it because of the money.

Most colleges want one STEM teacher LOR and one humanities LOR. Maybe these would count…

If you want to be in a city, Pitt is a better choice. Or Temple. Penn State is a great school with a very fine business program. But it’s not in the city.

I think you will have some options when the time comes. But I do think you need to do some research. Once you do that chance me/Match me, this group can give you some suggestions.

You need to find a sure thing for admission, that you like, that is affordable….FIRST. Then build your list up from there.

Good luck on the SAT. That metric will help provide more direction here.

Yes I only listed my APS earlier

So I shouldn’t ask my music teacher?

When the time comes, check your colleges for what they want for LOR and comply.

Gotcha.

Just to provide my grain of salt, Khan Academy is very helpful! I took the SAT four times – which is a lot (I get it!) but it’s very worth it if you put the time in. Now–you’re still in school (I’m currently a senior and school is winding down)–but over the summer, I suggest putting 2-3 hours in a day each week and every 3 weeks you take an official Practice Test in Bluebook and–well–you like spreadsheets…right?
I suggest you make one of these…to target your practice! - link below–this was the one I made and it REALLY helped.
[Removed link because it doesn’t work]
And, for question topics: Practice Tests | Settele Tutoring - click on the Bluebook practice test # that you took and it filters it by the topic and if you got the Easy/Hard section of Module 2.

ANYWAYS–I wish you the best of luck. If you have any questions, let me know!
*If the link doesn’t work (even though I published it? not sure) please let me know…I can attach pics.
