Math for March SAT 2009

is there any chance that -1 on the math will be readjusted to 800?? =/

no, there’s no chance

shucks =[…

It’s happened in the past, but rarely…

maybe if they gave a limit question lol in which epilson-delta proofs were the choices and asked which of the following proofs is equal/proofs the limit stated lol

and trust me, i’m not happy to say that - I usually get 800’s on the math, but I already know that I misread a question

pshhh i wishh they would put calculus related questions on there
like a problem related to estimating the area under a graph(totally do-able with algebra reasoning), but 90000x easier with integration.

To Bob.Dylan., thanks yeah that’s what I put, but I used some insanely complicated math and I cannot believe I didn’t just do what you’re saying…I had all of this nastiness with x’s, y’s, z’s, and a’s, and when all was said and done I had (40/3)x + (40/3)y = ax +ay, and I was solving for a. But it took a WHILE. I finished the whole section though.

lol with that question with the two triangles on that line where the answer was 40/3 you could’ve just done one proportion and gotten that answer

given: area of triangle 1= 3, distance=10
area of triangle 2= 4, distance =x
so, 3/10=4/x, and 3x=40!!! yay! one step solution

I used a proportion as well.

i asked about the 5/12 question, but also what was the question people are mentioning about a-5 or something, sounds familiar

I have a question…

If I missed one MC and open ended, are the points deducted from both the same? Or is one worth more than the other?

Same, because they round to the same raw score.

The 5/12 one was something to the extent of
4x-5=0, 3y-9=0, what is x/y? (Note: I may have misremembered the numbers, but this was the question)

maybe I missed somthing…but I got 141 for the answer

900 - (2.5)x(141) =547.5
200 + (2.5)x(141) = 552.5

wasn’t the question when the second tank(200 one) starts to have larger amount of water than the fist tank(900 one)?

maybe I missed somthing…but I got 141 for the answer

900 - (2.5)x(141) =547.5
200 + (2.5)x(141) = 552.5

wasn’t the question when the second tank(200 one) starts to have larger amount of water than the fist tank(900 one)?

^ close, but it was when 2nd tank had 100ml more water than the 1st one … or something like that, but it wasn’t just when the 2nd had more water than the 1st.

I just looked at collegeboard and I realized that my math experimental section (my second grid-in section) is the one I completely messed up on. I’m so relieved!

the 2p<x<3p problem also could include 35 as an answer right???

because 132 and 133-----> 26<35<39

please tell me if I am wrong

not true it could be 35 as well as demonstrated:

2(13)<35<3(13)
