Ah. Someone else in the IB mill. Best of luck to you.

Thanks, I need it. History Internal Assessment draft, Theory of knowledge paper draft, and Extended Essay outline due on Tuesday. (haven’t started any of them yet!) Had my English oral today. French oral next week, but that’s the least of my problems.

Oh yeah, and revisions for my 2 A1 HL papers due next week. What is that, like 11,000 words in total?

I hate history! AHhhh! Just remembered how little I’m looking forward to doing my history research this weekend.

What’s yours on? (Mine was on the military necessity of Hiroshima). Are you a junior or a senior?

I’m a senior. My school’s way behind, so the only thing juniors have are the english world lit papers and the english presentation. Everything else is for senior year (for HL).

At first, I was going to write the history paper on Chinese gov’t’s control of the media during the Cultural Rev. Then I realized that I would need primary sources, but 1) I can’t read Chinese, 2) I would be unwilling to try to find translations of Chinese newspapers from the 50s/60s. (70s?)

So… I decided to do my project on reconstruction of S. Africa after the fall of apartheid, and then my history teacher tells me that anything that happened within the last 10 years isn’t considered history. Great.

Have people been offering to buy IB papers in your school? So far, I’ve heard an offer of 40 dollars for a TOK paper (relatively cheap b/c it’s most BS).

Sorry, I graduated last year. On gap year now, so haven’t heard about what they’re doing, but last year we were all good… though some stupid idiot did try to submit something taken off the net.
About the History coursework, practically everyone wrote theirs on Hiroshima (cuz the school had photocopied packs of sources available - how lazy were we?) On the flip side, it was hard to get a good grade. Do you have a topic now, or still looking?
About Chinese newspapers during the Cult. Rev, well, they mostly don’t exist.

I think newspapers existed because they were mentioned in “Life and Death in Shanghai,” a memoir-book written by a woman who survived the Cultural Revolution. But who knows where these newspapers can be found?

I think I’m going to stick w/ the apartheid and take my chances on whether it’s history or not. and HEY, my history’s class is studying the Hutu/Tutsi conflict and that was in the 90s! Ooooh, there’s no way my teacher’s going to grade 20 2000 word essays in 2 weeks, so it won’t even count for 1st semester! Yay! I mean, I care about my IB and 2nd semester grades for other subjects, but just not for history.

Now I’m getting paranoid that my history teacher will for some reason be on CC and read my post. I did identify a person in my school on CC just by looking at 2 posts, so it is possible that my teacher would recognize me.

Hahah don’t worry, I doubt your teacher is looking, or that he or she would care. Best of luck to you, and I’m sure you’ll be fine. Where are you going next year? (too lazy to check ED and RD rosters)

wish I knew! Do you know that one of the scholarships I’m applying for requires an acceptance letter? How ridiculous is that considering the deadline is Feb. 15?

Anyway, Deferred Yale… applied Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Harvard, UChicago, Amherst, Wellesley, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Geneseo. I’ve had Columbia and Yale at the top of my list. I really like Princeton’s curriculum and academic programs, but I wasn’t sure about the people who go there. But if the people at Princeton are anything like you guys on this board, Princeton’s making its way up the list!

:D I hope so too. Everyone here sounds fun - I hope as many of them get in, and choose to go to Princeton as possible - would be awesome to have all of them as classmates…

Well, it’s 2 o’clock in the morning for me, so good night to all American/Canadian insomniacs and to those on the other side of the world! And I thought I was going to get up early to do my bio homework tomorrow morning. Let’s see if I can hear my alarm clock in 3 hours.

math problems are not my thing.even though I’m takin multivariable calc I absolutely abhor math. It is a struggle for me to sit down and do it every day. It just seems soooooooo booooring. Oh well, I’m not majoring in math and I’ve done all the math I need to med school + poli sci
