May 2010 Math SAT Thread

@DoctorTye
it was something like for some x, z=(a-2?)/(?) is positive and z=? is negative, and a=x+?
what can x equal? and the answer was 5.
i’m sorry, i really can’t remember any of the numbers or if that’s even what the question said…

@gthopeful93,
i don’t remember getting that either.

@ yellowroses:

OH!!! I remember it. It involved a= x+1/2 and a = x-1/2. One had to yield a positive result and then other had to yield a negative result. The correct answer was indeed, 5.

ANSWER: I, II, and III

god damn. first time taking, i got -5 so far ._.

@yellow roses

For which question did you get the answer 77?

i think the problem with x, y, and z said this:
for some x, z=(a+2)/(x-a) is positive when when a=x-.5, and z=(a-2)/(x-a) is negative when a=x+.5.

because i remember getting -7 and 13 when i plugged in 5

@yellowroses
The answer to that was E. don’t remember it but i spent at least 3 min plugging in all the answers lol.

@ gthopeful93

none of them. i can’t even remember 77 being a choice for any question.

for the runners question, is it 2/3?
since 2j = 3a or something like that?

@yellowroses:
I concur.

So Math is usually my weakest area, but I think I did pretty well on this one. Does that mean that the Math curve will be brutal? Or was Math tougher for some people?

I thought it was easy.
But, people have been saying it was harder than the March and Janurary one. so then it would be a slightly more lenient curve

which was the parabola question?

^^ So a 50 raw score would equate to a 720 or 730?

@yellow roses

Do you remember the questions that you got the answers 12, 15, and 16? I don’t remember those.

@gthopeful93
i don’t think i got any of those either, at least not that i can remember. that list of answers isn’t mine; somebody else posted it on page 3ish, and they might have had a few mistakes.

I had two math grid-in sections, meaning one was experimental…anyone know which one it was (one was much harder then the other)

^So if one has two grid-ins than one is experimental? I had 2, I hope the experimental one was where I made my mistakes.

@woohoo

I had only one section with grid ins and it had the last question to which the answer was 8521. I am guessing the other you had was the experimental.
