May 2010 Writing SAT Thread

For the xylophone question, I think the question was “Bells differ …” instead of “Instrument with bells differ…”

i got more than 1 NE, like 3 or something

^sameeeeeeee.

I got 2, but that is because I put the Myriad one as NE. I’m pretty sure now that the only NE was the Red Cross one.

wait…when you guys say no error, do you mean even on the senttence corrections where you leave the sentence alone or just the error identification section? cus I only put 27 as no error on the error ID (was that the red cross one?).

I got 3 NE’s too. I hope you guys are wrong. Btw, I think there are some wrong answers for the CR thread. I just know there are.

30-35
30. What is the best word for “ONE”? Someone - a writer - he or she (I think the answer is “a writer”)
35. Where should this sentence be placed?
I took lessons (or practice) days and nights.
I think the answer is after sentence 13,14 : … but I did not give up.

dear fresh.
there are probably no wrong answers in the cr thread despite what you think
all the answers stated “correct” have been logically argued and placed.

I got like 2-3 NE’s. Probably 3. Fairly sure of all of them, too. Can’t for the life of me remember which they are, though. The only question I remember in the writing section is that of the cat. I remember laughing my ass off (in my head) while reading that. Felt like one of those sentences you challenge people to say multiple times rapidly.

was there sth in para improvement begins with
at least,…

@silverturtle
the prolem was a faulty comparison, it compared the tone of the bells to the xylophone, so the correct answer was xylophone, not than

^ I said the same thing. So the answer was “than” xylyphone wasnt even an answer.

I rlly thing collgeboard will ommit this question. It technically had two errors.

there weren’t two errors. the sentence compared bells (as an instrument) to the xylophone and stated that the bells produced a better sound than the xylophone.
There was only one error which was “differ with”

Yes, the one that had you choose an introductory/transitional word was “at least”

What was the answer to the one that was like. “my father says if i ever buy a used car I should have it inspected by a mechanic” ?

@luceverita they definitely compared the tone of the bells, not the bells themselves

^ im almost sure ur right. the answer was “than”, I also believe though that differ with was wrong.

I think collegeboard will ommit this question.

^ does collegeboard always omit something from each test? because from the past tests, I always see a question ommitted somewhere.

^ Ya but always on writing, ironically lol.

They ommited a question from October 2005 and May 2006.

I wonder if he have to call and complain first.

^ Oh thanks. haha . Probably because grammar’s the most ambiguous and debatable…
