May 2013 SAT Discussion Thread

is it really ‘elective…marginalized’? I thought it was ‘(something)…undermining’

The context for the arcane question was: “…was so ___, only a few members were able to understand.”

I got it wrong :(

Was the Japanese movie one no error?

Anyone know if one of the writing questions the answer was “may be” because it was supposed to be “might be”?

Apparently so, I chose “may be” though, thinking it was “may have been.”

Anyway, English is hard.

The consensus is that it is no error

I had a really tough time wrapping my head around the “…designed paper bags that…, and ___ upright.”

What is the answer for that? (Improving sentences)

Can someone remind me what the Japanese question was?

For improving paragraph, was there answer along the lines of “…and also saw…”

Ok, for the critical reading sections, I got a passage about the brain, for me it was section 3. Do you think it was experimental? It was really hard, it had 8 SC and I also had all the other passages you all are talking about like suburbia, deception, salsa, etc.

I got year 2003, I’m pretty sure. What was the question?

What was the fill in that was 4000? I remember putting down 2000 for one of them idk

Which year didn’t show any change in combined cost from the year before.

It was 2003-2004, but since it asked for the year as opposed to year before, it’s 2004.

Japanese question was something along the lines of,
“Japanese movie director Akira Kurosawa’s best movie may be Rashomon…”

don’t remember rest.

Yeah that brain passage sounds experimental.

4000: 20th term of sequence. 10(20^2) = 4000

yeah i put contingency lol that was a dumb question. i probably got it wrong

I don’t remember it saying year before. I just remember it saying which year had no combined change in cost. And since the price changed across the year, wouldn’t it be 2003?

Could anyone predict my score?
Math: -3, 1 omitted
CR: Maybe one wrong
Writing: probably -2 or 3 MC, 9/10 essay

@ my88keys

It was like “In what year was the amount of the combined amounts of money the same as the previous year”

what was the brain passage??

No… I remember it saying what year did the combined cost stay the same… I really don’t remember anything about “Previous year.” I remember checking over that one.

does anyone remember any of the mulitiple choice questions on the grid-in section? I know number 8 was answer option C (3DF). What was #7?

It had the word “previous” or “preceding” somewhere in that question I think, but I can’t remember which one.

Pretty sure it was 2004
