May 2013 SAT Discussion Thread

I put 220 degrees for the arc

What would 1 wrong on math be? Maybe 800 with curve or no?

Math:790-800
CR: 760
Writing: 730 depending on essay

i’m pretty sure…i haven’t heard anyone say there was an error

remind me what the arc question was please

I feel relatively confident about my essay, as I filled one entire page and half of the second page. My English teacher used to be a grader for the College Board for the essays and she shared with us that you really must make an impression on the first page – the second page is essentially pointless.

I’m a little worried about the number I didn’t have time to answer and how many I skipped. Altogether, I’d say I have around a dozen omissions.

I received an email from the College Board today saying to expect my scores on May 23! Ahhhh I’m nervous! First time taking it (10th grade).

@Adbelnoubani the answer was 48. You had a circle with a circumference of 60pi, so the diameter was 60 and the radius was 30. A chord was drawn. The distance from the diameter to the chord was 18. Using Pythagorean theorem, you can determine half of the chord to be 24, thus the full chord has a length of 48 (I believe this was choice C).

Here is a picture of how to solve it: http://i.imgur.com/SW6Qz6j.png

I’m really worried about the test. Anyone remembers the “opposition against” question in writing? Isn’t it supposed to be “opposition to”? I got 3 questions wrong on Math already, 1 in writing and 3 in CR, maybe more. I’m aiming at 2100+ but I’m getting so nervous that I may cancel my score

Guys- what is -1 on math? 800 possible?

Yo, what was the financial security question?

Dang I did some weird thing like I assumed it was a 30, 60, 90 triangle and did all this stuff. What were the given numbers again?

@futfsu1 Which problem are you speaking of? What was it asking?

Predict my score please!

Math : all right
CR: 4-6 wrong
Writing: 2-4 wrong , 8-10 essay

is it above 2200?:(

@mash101 the one shown above in a picture. Not exactly sure what was given in the question.

What would my scores be if its like this:

Math: 3 MC Wrong 1 Fill in wrong
Reading: lets say 5-6 MC wrong
writing: 4-5 MC wrong, 8/9 essay, 1 omit

@futfsu1 The problem that I made as a picture? It gave you a circle with a diameter and a cord, with a line going from the center of the diameter to the center of the cord. It said that the circumference of the circle was 60pi and the length of the line connecting the diameter and the chord was 18. You had to find the length of the chord.

Is anyone paying for the Collegeboard QAS (Question and Answer Service) for their SAT?

@mash101 no that’s a different problem that I never got. This question was asking for the degree of the arc in a circle. I actually never got any such question with the chord of a circle, in fact, that degree of the arc in a circle was one of the only circle questions I got. I may just have a bad memory though so idk

(sorry to post again, not sure if my first one actually posted)

What would my scores be if its like this:

Math: 3 MC Wrong 1 Fill in wrong
Reading: lets say 5-6 MC wrong
writing: 4-5 MC wrong, 8/9 essay, 1 omit
