McGill Acceptance Decisions Class 2023 (Entering 2019)

Congrats to all who have been accepted! Looks like everyone here has received an acceptance after receiving “further review required” and then providing first semester grades. Do we know how much weight these semester grades carry? My daughter (US non-IB student) just received the request from both Faculty of Arts (Math) and Faculty of Science (Math) for semester grades, and will provide them as soon as she can get a copy from school - they haven’t been sent out yet. Her semester grades were pretty much on par with her overall transcript. How positive can we be? Thanks in advance!

Here is a question… what happens if you get the message Admitted pending final results, and you turn down other schools offers and after submitting final results to McGill, they take away the acceptance offer. This could happen if you don’t do as well in second semester and grades slide a bit. Then what??? No school?

Here is a question… what happens if you get the message Admitted pending final results, and you turn down other schools offers and after submitting final results to McGill, they take back/rescind the acceptance offer. @umassbound That is true for every college…McGill just gives it a name. If your second semester grades tank any school has the right to rescind your offer. Do your work, study, stress less…you’ll be fine.

I’m not saying second semester grades tank, I’m saying you slide from A to B.

That would not be a problem. There are a lot of students who ask on CC about getting rescinded. The rule of thumb is no D’s, no F’s and no felony convictions.

@bunnn22 , our HS does not provide predicted IB results, and McGill did not ask for them.

Hi @SheDidIt I didn’t receive a scholarship but have the same GPA and ACT as your daughter and APs instead of IB. Did your daughter apply for the Major Entrance Scholarship? Does anyone know whether this would affect whether I could get the one time scholarships?

@umassbound A slide from A’s to B’s is common and fine. :slight_smile:

I feel devastated, as McGill was my dream school.
I feel like I don’t want to live

I know you feel terrible. It will pass. You need to try to focus on other schools and not let this or any rejection define you. I promise with time you will just see this as a bump in the road. Other opportunities await you. Grab them.

@GullibleBoi What was you UW GPA?

Has anyone studying in a British patterned education system (A levels) gotten admitted?
