Lots of gross negligence these days in how sone are choosing to raise kids and not get them vaccinated nor educated.
Could one of the moderators give us a refresh on what will be allowed on this thread? I get that overtly political opinions belong elsewhere, but do we have a definition of what that is? I canât modify my comment if I donât know why it was flagged, but feel free to delete it and this one if need be

There is a thread about the politics of vaccines in the PF which can be found here: https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/t/politics-of-vaccines/3683266/
Thank you!
Iâm bummed because Iâm on an immunosuppressant so I canât get the live vaccine. I fall in the age range where I got vaxxed before '68. Not excited that itâs now so close to me.
A Texas child who was not vaccinated has died of measles, a first for the US in a decade mentions that the âschool-aged child had been hospitalized and died Tuesday nightâ.
It also says:
Could see an issue in SoCal⊠hope there is a higher vax rate there than where the Texas outbreak is
â Health officials said anyone who was at Terminal B that day between 1 and 4 p.m. may be at risk of developing measles.
Health officials were working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to notify passengers who were sitting in specific seats on the flight that may have increased their risk of exposure.â
Hope the baby will be ok. As an infant, presumably too young to have been vaccinated.
And yet, even this week, a Facebook friend whoâs a CPA is posting about how dangerous childhood vaccines are. Iâm glad she doesnât have children.
What about if we had the measles before 68 we should get a booster?
I think that if you know that you had the measles then you are good, but Iâd talk to your doctor. You always can get the titer test.
Having had actual measles (even long ago) is generally considered indication of immunity.
However, that measles infection may have reduced your immunity against other infections that you had (or were vaccinated against) before the measles infection.
For those in the 40-50 range, as a pure PSA, my husband and I were shocked when we were traveling to Africa just how many of our childhood vaccines needed to be boosted. Our kids hardly needed anything, but we had tons of jabs. Something it might be worth discussing with your doctor if you live or travel to one of these communities with low immunization rates. Herd immunity in the US has changed a lot in some regions and recommendations may be different and unfortunately closer to regions of higher risk of outbreaks.
According to the latest news reports, if you were born after 1957 and vaccinated before 1968, you are unlikely to have robust immunity.
I have a 4 month old granddaughter who wonât receive the first dose of the vaccine until she is 1 - that is protocol. I plan on getting the booster ASAP in order to be super safe.
What to Know About Measles and Vaccines | Johns Hopkins | Bloomberg School of Public Health mentions that infants as young as 6 months may get measles vaccine if traveling to risky areas and to consult with a physician in the matter.
I am getting a booster tomorrow. D1 said she had a MMR booster a year before GD2 was born, so she hopes GD2 will have some immunity. GD2 is 5 months old.
Great! Not. An infant came down with measles in Seattle area. People could have been exposed in these locations per our local paper:
Interesting 2 trips to the ER and one visit to the pediatrician.
Thatâs what I noticed, too! Plus Asthma clinic which Iâm familiar with. Wonder if that was for a different family member, and the baby was brought along. Canât get appointments at that place on a short notice!
