If nothing else, it will help you understand the process, which is unlike that of any other advanced degree and starts a year earlier. When my D was briefly considering going the MD/PhD, we both found the info there fantastic. (She decided on PhD only since she has no interest in becoming a physician.) Bluedevilmike is a godsend to that forum.</p>
<p>As long as your D understands the lynchpins of med school admissions – GPA, MCAT score, and community/medical service – and does well with each, she’ll have good results. At Smith, the biggest pre-med GPA killers are Organic Chem II and Cell Biology – and maybe physics. If she can get good grades in those, she’ll be golden. If not, then she’ll know that she should consider a different path.</p>
