I don’t understand what cleaning a rifle has to do with being a real man?

This last posts summarize neatly why age is a factor.
C23 references my post incorrectly and, as usual, attributes post to me that were not made.
TN, not just on this thread but many others, speaks with an air of authority that he simply does not have. Then makes a ridiculous statement implying that “real men” are cleaing their rifles in far away Iraq, i.e. less than “real men” stayed here at home.

Military service is not the only way to serve this country. Many, many men and women serve this country in dangerous assignments that have nothing to do with the military. Because of your age and limited experience, however, you have little appreciation for such service. In any event, you know nothing, absolutely nothing, about how, when, or why I may or may not have served this country. I prefer not to share–in some ways cannot share–that information on a public forum.

Youth, indeed, is wasted on the young. Its an old saying that you only appreciate the older you get.

TN,

I gotta smile at your age and attitude:)

I don’t have a problem with the “real” men and women in the “bush” as I grew up with it. The problem I have is with those who command without ever being “in country” as the old saying went.

You put down people you have no idea about. Wake Island, 4 years in a POW camp. Nam, 2 years on LRP. We are just as American as anyone here. What we learned is question those of supposed “intelligence” who command and face no risk for their errors beside opinion poll points.

Imagine being in the bush, coming across a batallian strength group of VC, calling it in and asking for extraction and being told, “you’re wrong, MI has no VC battalion strength in your area, no extrac…” You simply have no idea or experience of what can happen.

You know, I love John Wanye. I still watch those movies, he’s still one of my favorites, especially the Fighting Seabees movie (dad construction on Wake) however, they’re just movies.

Zaphod , i beg of you to come back since you said the Earth isn’t 6000 years old for once I am proud of you. Please go tell that to “pitifulmom” and the other nitwits.

i’m beginning to have this feeling, TN, that you aren’t who you say you are. call it a hunch.

i have to say, that “ignorance is bliss” is not an adage you should be throwing at people, as you seem to be basking in it.

to the original post, fifa isn’t an american organization…it’s swiss. they never get involved, so why are we surprised that they asked for a fee to air the cup? i’m sure this isn’t a policy they made up especially to screw the american armed services: “oh those american soldiers want to watch the cup, eh? well let’s be crazy and make them pay!” its this crazy thing called…wanting to turn a profit. as americans, we should be keener than most to that principle.
about the media…i haven’t really made up my mind, it seems to be conflicted between its liberal broadcasters and conservative owners. but please, in HONESTY, let’s not even joke about FOX being fair-minded. we are all intelligent here.
i just got back from a run. TN, i suggest you follow suit and go PT out a little of your frustration.

On the other hand, Wheelah, in many, many posts has displayed more maturity and responsibility than those that are [I think] older than her.

Maybe that’s the difference a year at an Academy does for a young person; compared to those that either are not going or have not yet gone.

I WOULD spend time talking to Wheelah at a party.

“I WOULD spend time talking to Wheelah at a party.”
bill0510

Yes bill, and so would your son because in addition to being smart, she’s a knockout! ;)

USNA09mom

Bill’s too old, and his son is too far away…

BUT…I have a son…

I suppose what your suggesting is that while I would talk to Wheelah, she would be less than enthused about talking to me? Hmmmm. . . . just getting O. L. D. [and bitter according to some!]

bill,
I didn’t say that; shogun did!

shogun,
During the academic year Bill’s son is either one floor above Wheelah, or one floor below her company (I can’t remember because I have no frame of reference), so it might be geographically feasible. Since your handsome son is a recent USC grad, Wheelah might be interested because he probably has a good job too, but he lives on the wrong coast and if I remember correctly she currently has a boyfriend. We will just have to get her input! :)

lol usna09mom, i am flattered but i must say i think you might be a little biased towards the ladies of 4th company! which company is bill’s son in?
