Hi! Im a junior and i recently took the sat in may and I have gotten my scores back.1620. Absolutely horrible (at least to me). For over 6 months I have been dealing with an illness that affects mainly my hands/wrist but I can hurt from my finger tips to my shoulders. This makes it difficult to write, type, or do anything involving that general part of my body. After the issue started to go away, it came back 10x worse in the month of April. My sat scores are unfortunately about the same as my PSAT scores. Around February/January, when my illness was not as bad, I was scoring around 1750 on practice tests. I took a practice test in April and scored 1500 so I’m thankful that by the time I took the sat I could control my pain levels a bit more. If my illness were to carry on into the fall and it would still be difficult to take tests, would colleges take my situation into consideration during admissions? Thanks!

Have you tried asking for the special testing conditions the College Board offers for disabled/academically challenged students? It’s worth a shot.

Ya know when I originally signed up for the may sat I didn’t think I would need it, but when things got worse it was too late to get that. I signed up for subject tests in June so now that you mentioned that I will definitely make sure I get that for those! Do you have anymore suggestions?

Did you have the condition when you took the PSAT? If not, then your SAT may be reflecting your true score. And 1620 to 1750 is well within the range of expected variability, though clearly you are capable of getting a better score if the practice tests are real SAT tests, taken under SAT like conditions. (Some SAT practice test are not the real thing, and even if the real thing, if not taken in one stretch like the SAT, with the same breaks, can lead to higher, false results.)

@MrMom62 all of the practice tests were administered in a classroom setting w/ the same number of breaks/other sat like conditions. I didnt have the injuries during the psat, but when I took most of the practice tests (where i was scoring around 1750) it seemed like my injury was almost gone/almost no pain. When it got aloooot worse in april, I scored the 1500 on the practice test.
