Thank you! Yes Wes is top of her reach list!
Fantastic! Yes we are headed down for a visit soon. Thank you for this fabulous inside intel!!
Confused - thought you were looking for schools like Syracuse and UVM âŠis that not the case ? It doesnât seem soâŠ
Daughter wants a balanced list of small LAC reaches as well as med-large safeties!
Yes so true thank you!
Ok. This is what you requested which is why I asked.
We still know nothing about her other than an ACT and you say sheâs above for each school. Other than SU and UVM + UMASS and Pitt - we know nothing about her so itâs hard to truly give names that are matches.
I see a lot of small schools listed - which wasnât the request - which is why I asked the question.
TS - What is your definition of âmiddle-sizedâ?
Really up to OP. They mentioned SU and UVM so I gave smaller - AU, COC, Lehigh, Ithaca and more SU sized - Delaware and Miami Ohio.
I see Oberlin, Holy Cross, Richmond and then OP says Wes is tops - to me all small. To others maybe not.
Because we donât know the students academic profile, we donât even know what matches there are. W&M might be a total reach as an example.
Just trying to get better detail and desire so we can all make better targeted suggestions. Major or areas of interest would help too.
Thanks
Other than the fact that Iâve lost track of what some of the initials stand for (AU= American? COC= College of Charleston?), I think those are fine contributions.
Yes, those are them Thanks - Iâll write out.
Yes, thereâs many great schools listed - just trying to understand what OP is seeking - and to learn more about the student.
This is what the OP gave us to work with:
I get the feeling they are looking for something in-between Syracuse U and Bowdoin in terms of size.
How about Skidmore? That could check a lot of boxes!
Connecticut College?
If sheâs unsure whether she wants a small LAC or a medium-large school, then I would make sure to have LAC safeties as well. Drew and Wheaton seem like they could be good ones based on what youâve shared about your D.
I, too, was under the impression that you were primarily looking for medium-large schools, but it seems youâre open to suggestions of schools of a variety of sizes. @NYmom21, do you want to share what the current list of schools sheâs thinking of applying to? That way posters can have a better sense of whatâs appealing to her and also spot any potential gaps.
I wouldnât call Waltham posh. it is a pleasant middle-class white collar/blue collar suburb.
If you would like survey-based information regarding colleges at which students appear to be especially receptive to those who may be different from themselves in one or more ways, this site may of interest:
OP can also look at the Campus Pride Index of many schools - theyâd be surprised at what they found. Some prominent Northern with bad grades. Southern with good.
Yes itâs not based on student surveys but it is another resource.
Fair enough; I was thinking of Newton/Weston etc.
