If clothing is in the running… For athletes, Lululemon Silverescent tees. Their no stink tech lives up to the hype, and they dry in a few minutes. My Mr. used to laugh at my Lulu obsession, but he is now a convert. We give them as pajama substitutes to our SIL and kiddos. 
External power packs that are charged are great tech gift for anyone and come in all price points. We like the more expensive ones with the various cords integral to the pack that you can plug in a wall to charge.
Anyway you basically have a power source when your laptop,phone or tablet die at inopportune times.
That’s a favorite but there are many much cheaper.
If any of your friends are big coffee drinkers, you can get them a bag of coffee or a subscription from Intelligentsia or Blue Bottle. I give those two my coffee snob seal of approval. It won’t break the bank and you can’t buy better beans anywhere for any price, so it has the advantage of being both the best you can buy and a reasonable price. Well ok, I’m not including cat poop beans because cat poop beans.
