It will be kind of an experiment to see if he wears it, I know men seem to either love them or hate them. He said he thought he would when I asked him about it generally a while ago, and I think he would really like something to keep him warm in the computer room, but he’s never tried one before so I am going out on a limb a bit. If he doesn’t wear it, I will. He is shivering at his computer next to me right now, so if he doesn’t wear it he’s dumb.
I am going to get him some thinkgeek toys and such too to hedge my bets, but I think he will like it. I did resist the fleece pj set even though it was adorable because I knew he’d never wear that.
No fun.

I think you are going out on a limb - a robe is the kind of thing someone either likes, or doesn’t, and it will remain unused. I can tell you my husband would rather put on an extra sweatshirt than wear a robe.

Emaheevul, I was going to suggest the following to you but I think they might be sold out, but they usually re-stock pretty quickly:

[Saks Fifth Avenue Black Label - Cashmere Robe - Saks.com](<a href=“http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=845524446148684]Saks”>http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=845524446148684)

I bought this robe about 10 years ago for my H and it is still going strong. It is very good quality and very warm.

Saks also sells a nice “spa robe” for about $100 in charcoal, white or black. I sent one to my nephew for Christmas last year and it is a very nice robe. I believe Saks is offering free shipping for the holidays and they gift wrap!

[American Essentials - Spa Robe - Saks.com](<a href=“http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=845524446231883&CAWELAID=1644746146&cagpspn=pla&site_refer=GGLPRADS00]American”>http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=845524446231883&CAWELAID=1644746146&cagpspn=pla&site_refer=GGLPRADS00)

That cashmere robe is a pretty pricey robe considering the OP isn’t even sure IF it will be used. I think I would go for something a little more modestly priced…for a guess.

Also…you need to consider…will this just be worn for warmth in the mornings, or will it be used when getting out of the shower too? The people in this house would want something that could be worn for both uses. Thus the terry or chamois choices. Comfy next to the skin, and warm too.

^^^

You might be right. So perhaps the second robe I linked might be up for consideration.

I have a better idea–buy him a new thermostat with a timer so the heat comes on before he gets up!

Robes are something men often won’t wear. For myself- I own more than one weight robe. I once got myself a warm fleecy robe for up north winters but gave it away as it was too warm even at night as the house cooled off to 65. An all season robe just might be the right weight, especially if he wears more than underwear to bed (ie flannel pajamas or a sweat suit) in cold weather. H’s predates the time I met him and is still in good shape. No reason to update something he won’t use. Get one for your future H and you’ll never need to again.

Son got the most use out of his last robe when he was 4 and used it to be a shepherd in his preschool Christmas play. Learned not to buy the next larger size.

Cotton terrycloth robes- such as those provided in some hotels- are much too heavy for me to want to wear while sitting around.

I hear the new Nest thermostat is really great!

“Get one for your future H and you’ll never need to again.”

Not in my case, but I’m glad Mr B outlived many robes.
He wears them out with the rate of 1 robe in 5 years. Prior to meeting me he was never a robe person… He was not a cat person or a garden person or a beach person, but now he is… ;)

A thermostat is a good gift suggestion, because no matter how well a person bundles up the core, hands and fingers can still be cold (I say this from a personal experience of working in an icy cold office that was nicknamed the Meat Locker  )

Another idea: a personal space heater? It could be a much more efficient way than heating the entire house.

A space heater could be great for warming up the area if he usually spends his time in one space before the whole house heats up. Holmes brand bathroom heaters can also be used to take the chill off the bathroom- the housing is safer than some for that area.

There are some pretty nifty new high tech thermostats that will save you $$ in the long run. Might be worth looking into.

And if he is sitting there in bare feet on a cold floor, he will likely be cold no matter what you do!

My H has several robes but loves his L.L.Bean flannel robes best. They even sell them lined if you want one with extra warmth. Choose one that you think he, and you!, will like because they never, ever wear out!

I really think he will wear it, it is the sort of thing he would appreciate and he said he thought he would. He has nice extravagant slippers and a space heater and a nest thermostat already, but the computer room is never warm. I am getting him some new shirts and some other little toys too, so I think he will be a happy camper.

I have a ton of suggestions now which I will file away for future reference, but I think I will go with one of the LL Bean options… I got him that fleece lined LL Bean hoody last year that was recommended here and he LOVES it… I think the LL bean robe might just be like a really big, warmer version of his favorite hoody that doesn’t smell like yardwork. He won’t wear “outside” clothes inside, or “bed” clothes around the house, or “around the house” clothes in bed, he likes everything separate-- so he won’t wear his hoodies in the house or his pajama pants in the computer room. He sounds like the perfect candidate for a robe to me…

… and if not, he can keep the new shirts and the gadgets and I will wear it!
You win some, you lose some.

In addition to our new learning thermostat (which I love) we have a heated radiant floor in the master bath. LOVE IT!!

I would kill for that! Maybe someday. Id like a more upgraded bathroom. My fianc

Smart woman to invest in the nest learning thermostat. The nest protect smoke/co detector is excellent too. It works as a nightlight at night and lights your path as you walk under it in the dark.

BTW, I also have a towel warmer built in in the master bath. I do love the floor and the towel warmer, but I usually forget to turn the towel warmer on in time for it to do much good.

And I only upgraded to these luxuries in the past few years, when we remodelled the bathroom. It was well worth it, but have lived for a long time with cold floors and towels.

This is the first xmas I am buying presents for D1’s BF (yeah, they are heading that way). I got him a pair of cashmere sweatpants and sweat shirt. I heard D1 complaining about BF stealing hers.
