Merit scholarships for students in top 5 to top 10 percent with 33 ACT

MSU does indeed offer in-state tuition and a $4,000 scholarship to OOS admits to the Honors College. There is also a Professorial Assistantship for top applicants that is worth $3,000 yr for the first two years. NMFs who choose MSU as their top choice also get room and board and another $3,000. All of those scholarships stack and their is an additional $2,000 National Merit Scholarship available directly through the school.

@thumper1 I believe that at all the Texas publics, if you win a “competitive” scholarship of more than $1000, you are granted in-state status and tuition.

BYU offers some “guaranteed” scholarship money based purely on a sliding scale of GPA and test scores once you meet their religious requirements (interview with an ecclesiastical leader, commit to live the Honor Code)

Look at the “2016-2017 Scholarship Matrix”

I can’t speak for the other schools, but as to what percentage get the scholarship for LSU, my understanding from our visit is everyone who applies ahead of the fall deadline (Nov 1?). If they still have money, they will issue awards after that. In state students will have no tuition cost with a 33/3.0

Thank you for this thread. We are waiting for CU Boulder. What can my D expect for merit; ACT 34, GPA 3.97 lots of EC…sports, volunteering, arts, etc. thank you.

@momfactfinder are you only looking for large schools/flagships? Truman State has several automatic scholarships. Their tuition is relatively low so their automatic scholarship brings the cost of OOS tuition to about $10K if you have a 33 ACT and GPA over 3.64 (see grid on Fin Aid site). They also have an automatic non-resident tuition scholarship of $3-5K per year, depending on scores/GPA. Truman is routinely ranked as one of the top regional universities in the midwest and has linkage programs for medical school (MD and DO) as well as 3-2 engineering.

@mm9800 Run the Net Price Calculator on Boulder’s web site. That will hopefully give you a general idea.

Wow great info!

You should use higher than 200,000 like 400,000 otherwise believe it or not need based aid can still factor in
