In the meantime, truly innocent munchkins like me had to plead guilty for allegedly not stopping at a STOP sign because a huge sign and tree blocked the police cars view of my car when I stopped.

I wish Blankfein or Corzine was beside me when the cop pulled me over.

Call me naive, but I am shocked. Losing customer funds and not prosecuting the perpetrators destroys confidence in our financial system. I am truly surprised that regulators would allow this to happen.

I “think” my money is safe in an FDIC insured bank, but now I am quite sure that my cash is not safe at a brokerage firm.

I don’t know the details of the situation at MF Global but it’s certainly possible for huge losses to be a result of ill-advised business practices. That doesn’t necessarily mean that there is also criminal culpability.

The criminal part is what happened to all that money that was supposed to be in segregated accounts. Being too early for the European turn around is just bad, bad luck.

ick! ok, I guess we will just muddle managing our own savings & investments. <sigh> really awful that yet another bunch of crooks are able to make off with yet another billion!?!?!?</sigh>

You need to remember that free enterprise is the solution to all our problems and any attempt to regulate them is a drag on the job creators … or said another way; those in power scratch each others backs and the little man gets screwed again.

The mess on wall street and the infinite versions of companies knowingly and purposely screwing the non-insiders and getting away with it is on my all time list of US political events that really **** me off.

The thing that your post misses, 3togo, is that this has nothing at all to do with “free enterprise.” It is criminal behavior, completely broken laws, and then a turning the other way by the regulators because the guilty party is politically connected to the very party which alleges to be against free enterprise and for regulation.

Proving once again that “they” are all the same. Lie down with dogs. Get up with fleas.

I feel horrible for the people who lost their jobs because of this, and for those who lost their businesses, as well, and houses. Some day, when they look back and write the history of this time in the US, it will be quite horrifying to read how the “free enterprise” system was stolen by the well connected and the politicians from both parties.
