Middle-eastern admission to Ivy League

huh …

:) dude, i admire your persistence…you simply wont give up until you get the ‘secret recipe’, huh? ;)

unique could be what distinguishes yourself from the other 15000 applicants. it could be your passions, it could be your achievement, it could be where you come from, it could be the speeches that you mentioned (as long as you describe it in a passionate way), it could also be your making the most of the opportunities afforded to you (not like rantin about it, but definitely in a manner that is self respectin, proud and has a bit of ah-ha effect)

the truth of the matter is as i had mentioned in couple of other chances email, if you go through the candidates profile of all pton acceptees (definitely look at that thread, might give you some ideas) you will realize that it is such a crapshoot. but that does not mean that you should not put your best foot forward. definitely be persistent the way u r n u will be fine.

also…apply to as many schools as you physically can. all that stuff about match, etc. aint very helpful for intl (esp. if u looking for aid) coz u might get into ur match, but maybe w/o fin aid (pton is need blind btw) so apply everywhere and the probability will be on ur side…

good luck

wowow nice reply adides … thanks alot for this help

i think my speechs r unique … will relay on them

when shall i start applying by the way ?

like yesterday!!!

start doing it NOW because it will take you much longer than you think it will, esp if you apply to a lot of school

Make sure you get your recommendations done early, as I suspect that 1) your teachers and school won’t be used to doing them and 2) they might need to be translated.

also, pick several safety schools…

pick several safety schools…

saftey school ??

i want to apply to 10 only

any comments ?? ones with financial aid only

there are quite many with financial aid though…

look here http://www.bibl.u-szeged.hu/reac-europe/intfinaid_awards.html

I understand your wanting to apply to only a bunch of schools, but you should understand that if you want really bad to study in the us (i mean if the mere thought of not studying in the us haunts and torments each and every dream you have turning it into a ruthless, unbearable nightmare   :D), 10 schools might be hazardous  … as in “there is a chance you might not get in even if you are very, very good” <- this is the bad luck that might happen… but it shouldn’t!

but then again, personally, i perfectly understand the idea to apply only to top school, those which might actually be worth it to attend (considering the hassle it means to leave home, family, friends and to go to a completely new place for an intl)… according to your standards though, the number of schools which “are worth it” might be 10 or 20 or 50 or just 2-3… :)

my advice would be to get informed and try to get prepared as soon as possible. Remember that to some extent there is a very small difference between applying to 3, 5, 10, 20 or 30 schools, by virtue of Common Application <– :D

Consider applying ED or EA, as this might be good for you. Look for essay questions and start “mulling” over the responses way in time. Except all this, don’t let he whole process scare you in the least.

Good luck!

As I said earlier, zxzz74, in my opinion Princeton, and schools of that calibre, are a reach for you. Additionally, as Pavalon stated above, there is a very high chance that, as an international student, you get rejected by several or all of the top colleges you apply to.

you know what you can do to determine your financial aid?

FILL OUT THE FAFSA FORM.

Is this unhelpful too?
