The second correlate is the recently approved Arabic Language and Culture sequence. As most students who choose this correlate focus on the modern Middle East, the sequence emphasizes the acquisition and use of Arabic as it is spoken today. The correlate aims to help students achieve at least the ACTFL Advanced-level proficiency in reading Modern Standard Arabic and an above-average fluency in the language. By reaching this level, correlate students gain a solid foundation that will enable them to become life-long learners of Arabic language and culture
