I have to deal with the state’s Department of Health and Human Services fairly often, because of my son’s disability. I think that each INDIVIDUAL is trying her hardest (have not spoken to any men so far), but the system is a mess. If I call three times, I get three conflicting answers. It’s been a nightmare.

I don’t believe it. I think there was more going on there than you knew.

The DMV here is great. The people are polite and hard-working, and they have a well-organized system with electronic check-in and a general service desk where you can ask a question without waiting to see one of the clerks. An enormous improvement over the stereotypically horrible Stamford, CT DMV of my youth.

I completely agree with dustypig; moreover, I totally understand where mamita is coming from. Government workers are subjected to a constant stream of public rudeness and bashing from all sides, inevitably concluding with some blowhard proclaiming that they “pay your salary.” Snarky remarks here are clearly the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Totally agree, even considering any '“snark.”

My last experience with the DMV was pretty good, in great contrast to former visits. I think the online thing has really lightened the burden, thus improved the service and attitude of the employees.

There may be some cases with merit, but having listed to story after story of bad hires who can’t/won’t do their job, its is often a nightmare trail of documentation and warnings and action plans and what have you necessary to try to get a competent employee in their place.
