Deferred. Had two friends make it though.

Deferred…

On the one hand, I’m annoyed. I’m not particularly angry to annoyed that I will wait until March for my actual decision…

On the other hand, I am absolutely ecstatic that I got into Caltech EA!!! Which means a. I dont have to apply to three schools whose applications I havent started and b. I’m already into a great school!

I’m just going to convince myself that the second hand is much more important than the first…

Omg. I got in. I cannot believe it. Thank you so much Lord! And… I get a tube! Omg omg omg.

^ congrats!!! :)

Hahaha wow! Well done, sammylee116!

Hopefully the rest of us are due for tubes in a couple of months. Stu Schmill did predict that some of the increased early apps were a result of shifting to an earlier round rather than just a growing pool, so it’s really up in the air as to what’ll happen regular decision.

[Early apps jump 14% at MIT for Class of 2015 | Massachusetts Institute of Technology Listserv](http://nytts.listserv.org/threads/view/early-apps-jump-14-at-mit-class-2015)

@ PunjabiHitman If only. It might decrease the RD apps a little bit but not much…

Like the name btw.

I’d like to know how many got accepted… It seems less than last year (This is probably wishful on my deferrence ahahaha)

Congrats to everyone who is accepted. To the rest of us mortals we can still take solace that all is not lost. Some acceptance rate from last year:
EA acceptance: 10.1%
EA deferred later accepted: 7.8%
Reg A accept: 6.5%
If you are a die hard and want to keep your hopes up until the bitter end, even those wait listed had an acceptance rate of 8.9%.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! (I hope we can say Merry Christmas around here).

I GOT IN I GOT IN!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT
it’s been 2 hours and i’m still in disbelief
i am so unbelievably happy
GOODLUCK EVERYONE WHO GOT DEFERRED
i’m praying for you all <3

deferred
MIT was my number 4 choice though

I CAN’T BELIEVE I GOT IN!!! THIS IS THE MOST EPIC THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME!!
I love MIT so much right now! Can’t wait for CPW!!

Deferrrrr they dont reject O_O?

Congrats to all acceptees!!! Hope to join you in the RD round, and next fall!
(I wouldn’t bank on my getting in, though :D)

Deferred–actually pretty happy about it–you guys are all so incredible that I’m just pretty happy to be in such good company.

All admits–you guys rock! Do good things with your life and help make the world a better place.

Ok I’m editing this because I’m afraid it’s too specific, and if the girl comes on here, (which I doubt because she’s naturally smart and doesn’t really bother with chances, obsessing over colleges, etc., naturally confident, etc.), she’d probably know who I am.

Anyway, the main point is, she got 690 on math on SAT and still got in yesterday.

^I got a 690 on math on the SAT, and I graduated from MIT. :)

^ I’m not sure if “my friend had a 690 and didn’t deserve to get in” is the mentality we’re looking at here, or if you meant something else. If that is what’s going on here, I’ll point out that not only did Mollie graduate, but she graduated with a double major (under the harder system) and is now doing awesome stuff in grad school at Harvard.

MIT Admissions knows what it’s doing. Context is everything ^^

No, it wasn’t to undermine her. In my original post, I said it was meant to encourage people on here that they can still get in.

Oh, and she got perfect on the critical reading section

To accepted: Enjoy.
Deferred: You’re still in this.
Rejected: You will end up at a great school.

I got rejected, but that just means MIT isn’t the school for me.

I was deferred. It’s not like I wasn’t expecting it, but it’s still a bummer. What sucks is that now I have to do a bunch of applications (including the CommonApp, which I’ve barely started on).

Something that bugs me, though: I know there are a couple genius kids who applied and got in, but they don’t plan on going to MIT. If I was accepted (still hoping for RD, though), I would go in a heartbeat, whether I had to pay with outside scholarships, debt myself into oblivion, or do ROTC. Though I actually want to do ROTC, so I guess that works out. lol

Anyway, [/rant].

Congratulations to all who got in and good luck to my fellow deferees.

Ah, didn’t see that. Nevermind then :D
