MIT Class of 2015 Early Action Hopefuls

My website is ilanahabibphotography.com but I don’t generally track traffic. I am so impatient for December to get here I can hardly function. I’ve even been looking at dorms (East Campus and Random = win)

YES they finally processed my Evaluation A and my supplementary recommendation! Whew… I guess it’s one thing to read “relax, we’ll get to it” and another to see proof that they got to it!

And thanks for the indirect compliment, Piper. Just gonna try to raise those grades before midyear time… the AP Bio/AP French combo at my school is pretty brutal lol.

I thought they read apps as soon as they are complete?

I got one hit from Cambridge, spent 0.00 seconds on my site on the 9th, haha. Probably a bot? I use google analytics.

Yes, they start reading applications as they’re complete. Doubtless very few first reads have been done, though, let alone the second, third, etc.

Ugh what a nightmare, my evaluation B never showed up at MIT. Now I have to fax it in soon. Nothing ever seems to go right for me lol. I definitely didn’t enjoy the email from MIT, “you’re application is missing crucial parts.”

^ That leads me to believe that all of the received information has been processed.

All of my information has been processed for over a week now. It’s kind of a scary thought that my application has already been looked at. :

The email states that they finished processing mail today.

^ That means Matt will probably put up his post soon (saying everything’s been filed), and email will likely go out to those missing parts. Once either of those happens, resend your stuff :)

The blog post is up, and I faxed in my missing recommendation today. I am waiting for it to show up on myMIT now. I just feel like my application will be on the bottom of the stack now, and they might not look at it as much. I won’t even know if they received the recommendation for a day or two. I wish my teachers could have been more responsible and mailed it earlier than the day after the deadline especially because I gave it to them in late August/early September. I just want my part of this process to end, but nothing ever seems to be so simple for me. Okay, rant over lol.

Oh my life is awesome, just after I posted that (literally less than a minute later) I checked myMIT, and my recommendation had been processed. Now I can finally relax somewhat. I still have academic decathlon to do, but I just got first trimester grades (straight A’s) and our team placed second in the state spell bowl competition (89 out of 90). So, what is everyone else doing to pass the time?

^

Writing other apps
Procrastinating (a lot)
Senioritis (see above)
EC’s
Schoolwork occasionally

Yeah, I keep thinking to myself “Well MIT already has my grades and things so I don’t need to work as hard anymore,” but I know that I still need to do well so I do the work.

This is not at all true, just for the record.

Although applications are sent out to be read in the order that they’re completed, each application is read by multiple people, so one reader’s application #1 will be another reader’s application #500.

There’s no advantage to completing your application early or late, and having an application piece that’s just recently been sent to MIT isn’t any sort of problem.

Yeah, I know I just needed to rant a little lol, but thanks for the information anyway.

Do you guys think I should email in the link to my website? It’s for my family’s non-profit organization. I made it, but it isn’t all that impressive. Do you think it would add to my app?

hey guys! ok so i logged onto myMit and it still says they received no standardized test scores. this slot is where its supposed to say that they received my sat scores right? >.<

sammylee116 - Does it say something that is important to you? If so, I’d include it :)

Well, this is odd… apparently MIT got my Math I subject test score instead of Math II. College Board dun goofed.
This is most decidedly a BAD thing, considering I took my Math I sophomore year and got a 670 and I took the Math II a year later and got an 800. Sending email explaining situation to admissions office now… T_T
At least they got my SAT I and Biology E scores.

I’m feeling less and less confident about my application… -__- Gah I really wanna know NOW!

^ you’re not the only one…I’ve been having my ups and downs as well =
