oh dear, I sent my SAT scores already, but my Score Send History says my order is still pending… will MIT still accept them?

Hey guys, do the grades on the midterm report factor into the admissions along with the regular transcript?

Thank you MITChris!

Dear MITChris,

On my tracking page, everything has already been processed (except the midyear report of course). However there is a supplemental rec. letter from a camp director that I want to be sent to MIT and I think he might be sending it in past the deadline. I read on the previous posts that late required teacher recommendations are accepted but since everything in my application is already processed and since there wasn’t any checkboxes on the application indicating I will be sending an extra rec. letter (the app only had checkboxes for sending in music/art portfolios), is it too late for the supplemental recommendation letter?

Yes, to Mollie, this includes teacher recommendations/SSR/predicted grades/official verification of A-Level results.

Also, how do you assign the level of achievement of an activity? For example, I have my Grade 8 in Clarinet, but it isn’t like a “national” “regional” “international” etc achievement. But I have to tick one of the boxes, so which should I tick?

I have a general question about letters of Rec.

I’m applying for RD.

Is it okay if my teachers recommendation gets there before my MIT online application?

I asked my teacher early ecause I wanted to get rid of the recommendation business and I think that she might have mailed them.

So, will MIT keep them on file or hold on to them until my official application is sent?

Gupi -

should be fine, as long as you have an MIT account. But you may want to create the Part 1.

(I posted this on the last page, but it was on the very bottom so you may not have seen it.)

^ No harm in sending it. Supplemental recs should be faxed, so you can just send that over ASAP.

MITChris,

Last night I submitted my application part 2 for MIT early action after working on it a lot during the day and making a number of changes. Today when I reread it, I regrettably discovered a many grammatical errors which I believe look pretty negatively upon me. Is this going to significantly reduce my candidacy for acceptance. If so, is there a way to withdraw my application from early action and and resubmit RD without it being read or any other consequences?

Thank you.

Sorry if this has been covered before -
What would be the latest recommended date for receiving/faxing in supplemental information for EA and/or RA? Or is it just as soon as possible.

For example, would faxing in supplemental information (awards) on December 1st be soon enough to be reviewed for EA?

I think it is fair to assume decisions would have made by December 1st.

I would try to send all supplemental information in November if possible. They won’t have made decisions by December 1 – typically they start selection committee at some point during the first week of December, so December 1 is cutting it very close.

For RD, all supplemental information should be sent by the end of January.

So if my second quarter grades close at the end of January, and I fax them to the admissions office, would they be included in the admissions process?

^tmanneopen, I think the answer to your question is going to depend on whether you are applying EA or RD.

If you’re applying EA, then anything you fax after mid-December, when EA admission results come out, will obviously not be included in the admissions process, unless you get deferred into the RD pool.

If you’re applying RD, then yes, I think your midyear report (ie your second quarter grades at the end of January) will be included in the admissions process. Likewise if you become an EA deferral to the regular admissions process – because then your file will be reviewed all over again with all the RD people.

thanks for all your help MITChris & molliebatmit!

yes, thank you so so much! I think everyone on CC should pitch in and send you all a thank you gift in real life or something :)

I definitely agree. It would be so small compared to all the help they gave us, it’s the least we could do

Hi MITChris,

I sent an email to MIT admissions to clarify something on my self-reported coursework. I received an email back saying that my message has been forwarded to the records office for processing. Does this mean it will be in my file for the admissions officers to see?

Thank You!

Does MIT use numerical index for admission this year?
