Nothing’s wrong with that. Your earlier statement implied that you think MIT is the only path to success. (As for your grades, they’re fine. Though MIT, of course, is looking for far more than grades.)

Piper you said after 700s on SATs they stop caring, but how much can your SATs impact you if your under 700. I have great scores on everything except for cr, which is a 660. How badly will this hurt me? I understand that SATs scores are only a small part of the application, but it seems like that is only true once you’ve surpassed 700s. Thanks

^ I’ll go ahead and say that I’m not an Admissions officer. The 700s-is-good has been confirmed by Admissions officers time and time again, but below that… things are more fluid. Such is holistic Admissions :)

I think that, as far as your CR goes, it depends if you’ve shown good scores in related areas (ie, a 5 on AP English Language or something). If your application is strong overall, I doubt a 660 in CR will keep you out.

I had my interview over two weeks ago and the interview report hadn’t been processed, so I filled out the Conducted Interview form. That was two hours ago. Right now, I happened to check my application status page and it says “Interview Conducted/Processed”. Does that mean my Conducted Interview form has been processed? Or does it mean my interviewer’s sent in her report and it’s been processed?

I believe it means the EC has sent in the report. Either way, it means you don’t have to worry about it any longer. :)

Great! Thanks. :)

I am planning on answering one of the essay prompts with something that would be sensitive to font and text wrapping. Will what admission officers see be exactly what i see in print preview?

yes lasfdjfd

Hi MITChris, can I ask for a Evaluation B from an American teacher who have taught me English writing for one year if he is not from my high school? (I’m an international student)

yes math_h1

Can missing materials be resubmitted through Naviance?

yes, they may.

Earlier today I watched Dr. Crowley’s admissions webcast from this fall and now I cannot locate the link. Anyone have it?

^ Do you seriously live on a house boat somewhere in the tropics? If so, that’s awesome, and I’m intrigued :P

Thanks Chris. I am a mom and I do not understand what that red lego looking guy on the wall is supposed to be. Can you help out an old lady?

Piper, sadly I do not live on a houseboat in the tropics. I was just bummed out about all the snow we got last week and hoping that the power of suggestion would make it go away.

it’s nothing - just a silly thing McG put up there :)

Hi

I have a situation here:

I had been a top 10% student in my batch for around 5 years, and had gotten 2 government scholarships followed by a scholarship to study in another country. I have had participation in various science exhibitions and competitions like the international space settlement design competition at NASA, university level robotics stuff like the IDC where MIT participated as well. Along with this i’ve participated in around 8 Model UN conferences and have certification from trinity college for piano.
now the thing is, that due to strange reasons, i tanked in my year end exams and am forced to repeat. the teachers and everyone can vouch for the fact that this will be a comeback story and i will ace the tests come next year. i still hold a leadership position for innovation in school.

there are other aspects of my life like family issues and financial problems which have been a part of my life through all these years as well.

the question is - is there a place at MIT for people like me? do i stand a chance of making it regardless of the big failure? any help/guidance here will go a long way

I want to fill out an “Interview Conducted” form but I can’t find it on my MyMIT account. Where should I go to get it?

For the section “list all AP Courses taken or under way. (If you have taken the test, please list date and score.)”

My school does not offer AP courses as such–students just take the AP tests in subjects that interest them if they want to. Should I just list the AP tests I have taken, and in Additional Information, explain that those were not actual AP courses?

Likewise, for the Self-reported course work section, it asks for course level. The options are regular college prep, honors, AP, IB, college, other; my guidance counselor said that all the courses in my school are considered “advanced.” Should I list other, and just explain this at the bottom? My counselor describes all this more accurately (or, at least, in better words), in my school’s secondary school report, so should I just say “see counselor’s secondary school report” or something similar?

Thanks!
