@PiperXP Yeah, but I suppose they have to upload a file, so I’m wondering which one it should be.

And also, would the topic I mentioned be ok?

@xer070 - They can upload the file with the letter. I’m not sure which short answer you’re referring to with video games - what’s the question?

@PiperXP Does that mean the Word file?

Also, I meant the activity for pleasure question.

Unfortunately, no. Do you know the answer?

@xer070 - If Admissions hasn’t specific a type of file they’d prefer, a Word document should be fine. Talking about video games is fine.

@AwesomeSauce35 - It sounds like you contacted MIT Admissions and they told you “no”. Is that accurate? If so, why are you confused?

@PiperXP Thanks a lot. Do I have to talk about only on activity, right?

@xer070 - I don’t think you need to stick to one, but doing more than one in such a small word limit may be difficult. It depends on what you can do within the word limit.

How does MIT feels about taking a SAT subject test(language) for a native speaker? I already have 2 subject test, I’m not sure if I should take a native language SAT subject or not. I read on CC that it’s a bad idea.

Hi there!

I’m planning to apply Early Action, and I just wanted to ask if the October 20 deadline is only for scheduling the interview or whether it also includes the interview itself. I scheduled mine for October 31 and I’m wondering if that’s OK.

@rainy311 - I don’t see the harm.

@arvorie - That’s perfectly fine. October 20th is just a scheduling deadline so that interviewers can spread their interviews apart and ensure they have time to write up their recommendation.

It won’t be a problem, but MIT won’t consider the score, either. MIT will only consider one math and one science SAT II.

I have a couple questions.

is it also okay to put that i am interested in doing a varsity sport at mit but don’t plan on filling out the athletic form?

1) Yes, you’ll still be required to get a transcript from your school sent in.
2) You can apply early, and then switch your application to regular action later. I’d get the Part 1 in (it’s just biographical information and should be quick to fill out) and start with the interview process sooner rather than later. There’s no harm in that.
3) All of those would be scholastic to me, whereas things like “acting awards” and “horseback riding awards” (like I had) went into non-scholastic. But people use those sections differently, like some people use “scholastic” if it came from their high school and “non-scholastic” if it was done independently. Just be consistent.
4) You can certainly mention interest in a varsity sport on your application without filling out the athletic form.

Hello! Sorry if this was already answered, but molliebatmit, can you help me on this one? So I am kind of confused about the recommendation submission aspect of the application. So I signed up for the recommendation site, but it asks me to send a request to a teacher via the site. If I already requested my teachers to write a letter for me, how do I skip sending a request? Also, do teachers and counselors submit their letters directly through the MIT Recommendation Site? Thank you!

I’m not familiar yet with MIT’s system specifically, but through my experience with online grad school recs, I’d predict that you need to send the request via the site – it will most likely trigger an email to be sent to your teacher with links and instructions about how to submit the letter.

It’s good that you’ve already asked your teachers to write a rec in person, but you should still send the recommendation request via the MIT site.

Just to reinforce what Piper said, if there’s a possibility that you might apply EA, you should schedule your interview early – the EA interview scheduling deadline is much earlier than the RD deadline. It’s fine if you interview early and then later decide to apply RD, but you definitely don’t want to miss the EA interview scheduline deadline and then decide to apply EA.

Thank you for the response

For questbridge applicants, do you have to request an interview before the EA interview deadline or the RD interview deadline? Or do you have to wait to see if you’re a finalist before doing so? It it makes a difference, I am not ranking any of the school and am only using Questbridge for the four non-binding schools.

Hi Everyone, i applied to MIT last year and was rejected. I am considering applying again this year as a freshman.

However, when I tried to log in to my previous account, I wasn’t given an opportunity to change my year of entry to 2015. When I tried to create another account under another email, I was not able to do it as the system already has my particulars.

Would anyone we able to advise me on what to do?

Thanks!
