Think about how many girls spend hours in front of the mirror trying to look perfect. It requires effort to meet societies aesthetic standards. MIT people, guys and girls, spend time doing other things, which in the long run are probably more productive.

And hey, MIT girls clean up nicely too!</p>

<p>Even after four years of MIT and almost a year of graduate school, I refuse to leave my apartment without foundation, mascara, and eyeliner. I also still curl my hair every day. So if you’re sufficiently vain before coming to MIT, you probably won’t change. But KirbusPrime’s point is well-taken – a large number of MIT girls, or science/engineering girls, are either too busy or not frivolous enough to waste time on makeup every day.</p>
