** MIT International Applicants' Thread 2017 **

Another rejectee here! wasn’t so devastated as I convinced myself I will 99% be rejected. Now waiting Chicago after deferral… After waitlisted in WUSTL, I’m becoming more desperate :(

Now if evansl (the guy who lied on his whole app) was accepted, I’ll get furious.

Rejecteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed !!

It is a reject for me. 3 acceptances and 1 reject so far.

All the best my friends

Maybe quiverfox is that 1% accepted here !
(Remembers me of a scene in Django, “the one in 10,000”)

Where else have you been accepted guys ?
I really want to meet you someday (maybe at MIT as a transfer applicant ?)

Was any international accepted at all? :P

That’s for sure. But nobody from CC yet.

Not me, either. But I’m going to Cambridge, have a job lined up to cover my university costs and everything, so I’m not really upset :)

Hey guys, I posted this earlier and will re-post again to give y’all some hope.

Hey everyone.

I just want to give you all a little advice when it comes to MIT/other top universities, their decision and what comes after that.

Like all of you 3 years ago I was an international student applying to MIT, and like most of you (lets be realistic, acceptance rates are abysmal) will I got rejected. This rejection hit me pretty hard for a few days, I always thought I was going to be part of MIT since I truly loved the school and what it meant, but my dream was “broken”. Do not let a rejection break you down, take it and cope a few days, but do not get depressed about it and make it feel you are not good enough for MIT or any other top tier university. What you have to do is go to any other university you got into and excel at it. Make yourself be known and get involved with research or a laboratory group early on (as early as possible, do not wait a year). Being directly involved in research will open many doors for you, many of which can later lead to MIT or other amazing schools. Last summer, during my transition between my sophomore and junior year, I decided to apply for a summer research program at MIT and was more than fortunate enough to get accepted. Spending my summer working at MIT and learning from fellow summer fellows has been one of the best experiences of my life, however, I was not blinded by it. During the summer I decided to talk to professors and researchers at MIT and worked really hard on my research project. This combination of networking and hard work ultimately is allowing me to return this summer. What I am trying to say is that do not get bummed if you do not make it in the first time, go somewhere else and make yourself be known. Through hard work and perseverance you can reach many places.

For those of you wondering, I am currently majoring in Biochemistry, so if you have any questions regarding biological research opportunities for international students feel free to ask.

Also, for those interested in summer research programs/internships when you are sophomores, here are the two from MIT that accept international students. I was part of MSRP-Bio, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Best of luck!

Wherever it is that you go, do not forget to give it your all and enjoy what you are doing.

I know an international on CC who got in, he’s probably to crazy excited to post his stats now. Which would explain why no one has yet.

Waitlisted.

Rejected.
Well I am already at the MIT of Asia.
After 3 years, I will be at the real MIT.

@hennebou

Accepted at

 1. UIUC
 2. UT Austin
 3. WUSTL

I never expected MITbecause I may not be good enough
I am safe with the above schools
The only hurdle is I need a minimum of 50% F Aid
waiting for other ivies and Colgate
All the best my friends

Damn! Rejected! :frowning:
I’m not done with you yet MIT. I shouldn’t have expected much with my stats anyway.
I got accepted at University of Kansas, Purdue University, and Michigan State University, rejected at MIT, UIUC, and now I’m waiting for Stanford University’s decision, which would most likely be a rejection for me again. Oh, and I’m waiting for NTU’s and NUS’s decisions too. The thing I’m struggling with now is University of Kansas’ IIE Scholarship.
I hope we all meet sometime in the near future. You people seem pretty cool. All the best! :D

I got rejected too
I might end up going to Georgia Tech, but I’m still waiting on other decisions.
Good Luck to all International Students :D

Yeah, a guy I know got in. From Nepal.

I got rejected too!! It’s OK.

rejected :(

I got rejected too guys. I was initially really upset because I really loved MIT and showed as much interest and passion in the school I could through my essays. Unfortunately, even 2 published papers and a provisional patent wasn’t enough :-(
