@lzhang: as technol21 said, URM is an under-respresented minority. and by a double URM i mean im mexican and black. does that increase my chances in general?

@akybaky: honestly, im poor so i took the test with a fee waver and the only reason i took math 1 because i chickened out of taking chem so it was like a back-up. and yeah im retaking a 780 because i dont think this score represents my true mathematical abilities. and i could easily increase a 720 in bio e and i plan on taking us history also (in may), to balance off things.

@technol21: but yeah my essays were not my best. kinda rushed things considering i didnt know about it until like a week before the deadline. and i only read the counslerâs rec even though i believe i wasnt suppose to read any. but really my counsler didnt care. but it was pretty much a standard rec she almost writes for everyone. and she really knows me but i guess sheâs just lazy. and youâll understand if you saw my school. but i didnt see any teacher recs, although i managed to peek through the letter by bright light and saw a few words from one and it just made my day ;)

but my ecâs are kinda week because there isnt much offered at my school or neighborhood and i didnt know about any AMC12 or USABO until like a few months ago. plus something went horribly wrong and to make a long story short im just happy i was allowed to apply at all.

but please, somebody else post their stats!!!

wow XiÎiX, good stats. I donât think thereâs any way you wonât be accepted. my counselor letter was thin, like a page. Oh wait, the counselors also sent the school profile, so that could be the thick part.

@XiÎiX, side note. Have you heard of questbridge? you should check it out. You seem like you would be a really good applicant. They are an organization aimed at helping low-income students gain access to âeliteâ colleges. Hereâs the website.

^^^^lol. actually rosee09, i started a thread asking if anyone else was applying. And as of right now, Iâm writing my essays. Are you applying?

They shouldnât see it as negative, it just shows how excited we are to get accepted and attend the program. Plus, when you want something really bad, you are more likely to work your ass off when youâre in it.

If theyâre done with decisions, you probably could, but youâd have to wait until Monday. There are only a few different scenarios that can happen. Theyâll tell you to sit tight at home and wait for the mail like a good little puppy (probably not in those words), or theyâll tell you your decision. I would call, but I have this weird phone anxiety.

yea, itâd be even more awkward getting a reply on the phone. But Iâve called MITES a few times b4 w/ my cellphone(so no long-distance fee) for other things.

lol,i think if they knew ur decision and you were rejected, they would tell you they canât say and wait for your package. But if you were in, they would tell you that you were. Unless they ahve a policy of notâŠsaying.

^^^Yea there isâŠnot in the traditional senseâŠbut yea. Actually last year there was someone who was offered a spot at MITES after someone on the original list declined. Now weâre on the same flight to CPW :-D.
