MITES 2011 Information & Discussion

sooo nervousss
i sent in my app like 2 weeks ago and my teachers/counsellor still havent gotten an email! lol did i already get rejected? :O

No no, you didn’t get rejected, and I hope you won’t :slight_smile:
They still haven’t gotten an email?
That is most probably either because:

 1. You didn’t put their emails into the part of the application asking for them
 2. Your teachers/counselor didn’t check their junk-mail boxes. Letters from unknown senders often end up in junk-mail boxes.

Try asking your teachers/counselor again ^_^

I didn’t find out about MITES until Jan 20th… luckily I can put out essays quickly :)

Here’s my stats… I hope I have a good chance. What do you guys think?

EDIT: 3.98 GPA, Rank: 2/705

I think for this program, it’s more about your essays than your actual stats. Of course stats can help, but mainly they’re looking for qualities throughout your essays…

jmcrusader, I think it’s also how much the program fits you according to what their goals are (<50,000, minority, demographics, etc). Your stats are excellent.

chowaznmein, what qualities do you think are necessary in the essays?

jmcrusader
There is no way they could reject you unless your essays are horrific

@ somethingbetter (:
aww, i’m sorry that it took forever to reply, my internet was gone for a while ): but i got the email the night i sent it in, and the day after, we started school because we were on winter break, and i asked my teachers if they had recieved it, and they said they had and they were working on it :confused: i hope you recieved it! o:

I never got a confirmation email.

@somethingbetter
@ facedownclap
@ everyone else who read my message

oh! hahah i’m really sorry, i was confused with another email that i got conformation on, O: sorry guys!! i never got an email recieving conformation on my application, but my teachers did.
sorry!

now that i think about it, i think it was just a dream lol this program is getting to my head -_-

awww don’t worry padillak12 :slight_smile: I often have dreams like that, where I spend hours completing an assignment in my dream, and I wake up, failing to realize that it was a dream, I go about my day, search through my backpack to take out the assignment that I “finished”, only to realize that I never actually did it in reality.

But yeah, MITES doesn’t send a confirmation letter to you personally, they only send emails to the teachers/counselor, asking them for their letters of recommendation/transcript etc.

^ Lightyears26 LOL I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. sometimes when i bring my laptop upstairs to HoN/Dota during the night (yes im that azn) and bring it downstairs at like 3 in the morning i always wake up momentarily scared that perhaps I had forgotten to put the laptop back. And sometimes I do forget.
MITES didnt send a confirmation letter to me either! But apparently on the MITES website where you apply online it says ‘we have received ur app’ or something like that =)
My teachers didn’t receive the confirmation letter, so I guess I’m going to have to manually forward the link and all the stuff to my teachers =)

Is it just me or did I have not have to send anything through the mail? My school is sending my scores, transcript, etc. And my two teachers and counselor are sending in the recommendations themselves.

Do we have to print out the confirmation sheet and send it in with the transcripts or whatever? I just read that and was wondering if that’s what it meant.

Oh yeah, I just read that as well. So, should I just give that to my teachers to send or can I send that myself? Because I think my teachers already sent everything, so perhaps I could just send it individually?

MITES needs to get their documentation straightened out…
I don’t think we have to mail anything; everything can be sent online.

I’m waiting for my physics teacher to give me my letter (tomorrow) then everything can be mailed. SO NERVOUSS!!!

wait…so has anybody’s teachers received an email to upload their recommendations?

no my teachers didnt =(
So i had to manually forward them the link =(

@terebin
My teachers received the links in an email, but one of them couldn’t get it to work.

@soydecali

sorry i didn’t get back to you in a while. I’m not exactly sure what qualities they were looking for but I basically treated all the essays like college essays. I looked under the objectives of the program and the goals of the programs and the courses to find ideas that would most closely match what kind of students they were looking for…

@everyone

I did not recieve a confirmation email. However, my teacher did recieve them and they are writing my rec letters right now.

One question I do have though is for the standardized test scores, are we supposed to let our guidance counselors send in both the PSAT as well as the SAT scores?
