If you were officiating a different wedding would you try to coordinate your colors? If you were just being the mother would you try to match? I agree with not clashing but I’ll bet trying to match either of the chosen colors is likely to clash with the bridal party’s shades/tones. A lot depends on your hair and skin tones as well as your likes/dislikes. You do not want to upstage the wedding party but you don’t want to just be neutral beige/gray tones and look washed out.
You want to feel pretty, mom. You are not the anonymous officiant in this wedding- you are the mom first, who also gets to do the honors. Pick something that flatters both your coloring and your figure (or lack thereof).
If you lie pastels and the goal is to not clash, pale pink or blush, pale grey-green or even pale lilac could work. Trying to match the watermelon or eucalyptus shades could be tricky IMO.
This has been really helpful, especially the encouragement to wear something that makes me feel good. I rarely dress up (other than professional clothes) and I’m realizing tonight that I need to think about what would make me feel comfortable and pretty. So thanks.
