models- 13 year olds on the runway looking like women

Since the clothes that these runway models wear are designed for people with zero body fat, no hips or breasts, why does it surprise us that a 12 y/o could fit into them? The average woman who spends ten minutes looking at a fashion magazine puts it down feeling bad about the way she looks. If 12 y/o’s know their own minds, our society is in for real trouble.

Well while my 17 yr old reads Vogue- I read More :)

I agree that runway designs aren’t even meant to be what is in ready to wear- it never has been.

I don’t understand the comment that we are in trouble if 12 year olds know what they want- why wouldn’t they?
My 17 yr old for example has known her own mind since she was born.
Very strong willed and focused.

Oh, she should go for it, save the money for college or whatever. Beauty and fashion are so fleeting. And I know more than a few people who’ve known what they wanted to do since they were twelve; she’s lucky to have the opportunity.

As for whether she has a woman’s body: I am the same height now I was when I was 11. Until I had children (age 30), I weighed the same and had the same measurements.

Wow, she does look like an adult. Perfect features for modeling, too.

I hope her mom IS a helicoptering stage mom and stays glued to her D’s side for the next 6 years!

I have no problem with her putting on designer clothes and walking down a runway–it’s just that what I’ve read of the modeling world, it’s not for a child to be exposed to.
