Agreed
IMO, the only thing nice about Storrs is the puppet museum “downtown”. Storrs is in the middle of nowhere.
There are a couple of Dunkin Donuts, the Dollar General and some generic restaurants.
Im not sure if there’s even a major hotel within 15 miles of campus. There may be one.
There’s a Hilton on campus with 100 rooms. The Inn on Storrs with 87 rooms is 5 miles down the road by Eastbrook Mall. There are a handful of B&B alternatives in the immediate area such as the Spring Hill Inn (the old Altnaveigh) in a historic building with an excellent restaurant a mile from campus. Within 15 miles? Come on. There are half a dozen additional hotels within 15 miles.
“Downtown” refers to the mixed use development with apartments and shops which opened 8 years ago. Is that what you’re referring to by downtown?
I said major hotels. Is it the only flagship university that has 1? Hilton, Marriott or Hyatt property?
I looked at it because my daughter did an internship over the summer last year.
Yes. Ive been to the campus many times. My kids wouldnt go there for free (literally since they can based on class rank). Way too rural.
Certainly not the only flagship that has one.
Another Hilton and 2 Marriott properties within 15 miles.
I get that it’s way too rural for your daughter. It’s not for everyone. But what is?
Other than the one Hilton, when I looked the closest was in Manchester? I got tired of driving so far for her internship and I had points at all 3 of the major brands (but mostly Marriott and Hyatt) so I was just going to stay there and work remote. But since it was still 15? miles away, we just drove everyday. At first, I went to one of the UConn libraries to work while she did her internship but then just went to the local Mansfield public library since it was easier and didnt have to walk through campus.

If it was, all 10 spots would have been Wesleyan.
Unless bumping the thread to keep it active count as authorship?
You are a super Dad!!!
Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
