Speaking from personal experience: DS ended up being transported by ambulance in April from Traditions East to Norman Regional Hospital.
The ER doctor called and spoke to me personally, which was much appreciated as I only had his friends to rely on for information.
We have all the HIPPA forms executed (Oklahoma Health Proxy, Health Care Directive and Power of Attorney). I have the originals in my safe at home and copies stored to my Dropbox account. I know my son was conscious when she called me, but I do not know if he gave verbal consent. He had accidentally overdosed on his ADHD meds and can’t remember exactly what was said at the time.
Of note: my insurance covered the ER doctor charge and ER hospital charges at an in-network rate. The ambulance was NOT covered at an in-network rate. However, I sent my “Explanation of Benefits” to the company and asked that they forgive the difference between the “eligible charge” and the actual charge. Thankfully they did agree to waive the difference.
