Most Public Colleges Face Budget Cut Threats in 2011 (U.S.News & World Report)

I dont know if this is the right place for this… but i need to rant.

Budget cuts suck. My university is getting killed. The top teachers are getting recruited by colleges elsewhere, programs are being cut, minors are being cut, and resources are dissappearing. Also, my department “let go” some of the better teachers in my department, and will hire cheaper teachers, probably with much less experience. Business majors can no longer minor in a separate business topic: ex cant major in acctg and minor in {insert any other business major}. Classes are getting cut. Classes are overcrowded. I don’t get it. You’d think that tuition is raising so high is to keep the quality of education the same. This is NOT happening. The cost of education is RISING and the quality of education is DECREASING. I would honestly prefer if tuition rose an additional 10% on top of the, what is it now?, 9-13% its rising annually if it meant that the quality would stay the same.

Even if the college were to cut programs, you think my college would want to keep the business college, one of the MOST popular and succesful colleges on campus, in good shape. Sadly, the business department is struggling and other departments are struggling even more. I can only imagine the same is happening elsewhere at other state colleges or will in the next couple of years. Is it happening at your college?

Im going to tell my little s to try to go to private college. I assume the quality of private universities have remained high?
