Mothers Day 2016

Was laying in bed awake this morning when DS called. Had a nice conversation that made my day. He rarely calls and was actually willing to talk and tell me about his life (I didn’t have to pry it out of him!), and things are looking good. He really seems to be getting the hang of some of this “adulting” stuff that he needs to do for his upcoming summer job and next fall’s study abroad, which is a relief. DH had had made a coffee cake with blueberries yesterday, so we had that for breakfast. We did our usual Sunday grocery shopping, then I had some work to do because we’ve been having computer and printer problems at work and I had to get ready for tomorrow’s clients. Hubby made us a delicious seafood dinner and we watched The Good Wife (which we were both ready to say goodbye to!).

In addition to the time I spent with S1, who was here for a conference, S2 actually called last night (something he doesn’t always do), and I got a lovely email from DIL (although I didn’t see it til this morning since she sent it last night and she’s on the west coast). All in all, a nice day.

Best day ever! S, who lives 11 hours away, called to say he has accepted job offer only 1 hour away! Yay!!!

Now if we could only have a mother’s day twice a year. (not gifts just having a special day to relax and be remembered by the kids)

Mother’s Day is usually less than 2 weeks after my birthday, so my D has never done a whole lot for it. This year for my birthday she came home from school for the weekend, buying the train ticket herself. So for Mother’s Day, just a few days after she came home for the summer, I got a dark chocolate bar and a very nice Facebook post.

By the way, for those considering Jackson Browne (one of my favorites), get the tickets soon because he sold out quickly in the DC area last year (I was surprised).

@barbalot My friends birthday was on Saturday, May 7th. I wonder if she had a double celebration this past weekend. I will have to ask.

Jackson Browne is performing in DC area ( Wolftrap) on June 14. H and I have lawn seats.

Fwiw , my birthday is very soon and H’s falls very near Fathers Day. Sometimes the kids get us 2 gifts and sometimes just one. No problem either way.
