Proudpop:
I just got back from USC, and measured my son’s bed height in the top, semi-loft position. From the floor to the bottom of the bed frame, it is just over 33.5 inches. Once you clear the bed frame, under the bed is 3 feet from the floor to the bottom of the mattress.
My son actually had the dresser completely under his bed, along with a bookshelf and some rolling bins.
When the bed is in this high position, you can actually push the desk under the bed, and my son said that some people put the desk perpendicular to the bed, and push the desk halfway under the bed (the side with the 3 drawers). This makes an L shape, with enough desk surface area out to work on, or put a laptop on.
Hope this helps!
