Movies I wanted to/or did, walk out of

You’ve Got Mail.

Anyone who loves books and bookstores should hate this movie. Anti-individual corporate propaganda. (But don’t ask me how I really feel…:))

W.
You can always count on Oliver Stone to do bloated, boring movies.

Nashville (Altman) – completely failed to interest me
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover – hideously violent
Gangs of New York – also hideously violent
Slumdog Millionaire – relentlessly tragic

Yes, it was Part I. You can see what an impression it made on me, lol.

I’m glad to see that I’m not the only non-fan of Dr. Z.

There is a good reason I read multiple reviews prior to spending $10 on a movie ticket :)

Last half hour of The Departed. The head count got to me. Waited in the lobby for H and S.

Recently District 9, or whatever it was called. Great concept, but got bogged down. Got tired of the “aliens”.

The Notebook. Preposterous take on Alzheimers.

The first movie I walked out of: Ben Hur. I was 7. Revolted when Ben Hur looks at his mother and sister when they have leprosy. Began a many year bout with hypochondria.

Seems like I was about 11 when my friends and I walked out of “Yellow Submarine.” We thought we were too cool for cartoons and we had a slumber party to get to.

Flash forward a few years and I was … uh… entranced.

Walked out of:

Fritz the Cat
Clockwork Orange
Midnight Express
Silence of the Lambs
I am Legend

Loved:

Forrest Gump
The Notebook
You’ve Got Mail
Dr. Zhivago
Apollo 13

Hated Dr. Z

Would have walked out of “Ghost” but was with friends.

An Officer and a Gentleman

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (don’t ask)

Took my daughter and her friend to see Standing Ovation last weekend per their request. Never heard of it? Consider yourself lucky. The first clue about how bad it would be was the fact the closet theater showing it was 20 miles away. The second was only 7 paying customers to see it on a Sat. night. My savior was my Kindle. I told the girls about half way through I had to go to the restroom and never returned. Absolute worse movie I have ever seen.

Blue Velvet

Famm, I have fallen asleep in MANY movies. For me it isn’t always a reflection on the quality of the movie, just on how tired I am (and how much I ate before the movie :)).

Have never walked out on a movie, but I’m cautious about which ones I’ll see in a theatre and only go to something I think sounds good, or at least interesting, based on the reviews. I wanted to walk out on “Hooper,” starring Burt Reynolds as a stuntman, many years ago because it was loud and stupid, but dh and I were there on a date and he was enjoying it.

I turn off movies on television all the time, though - a cheaper alternative. I hate anything vampire-related and can’t at all understand why they’re such popular characters nowadays. Have also never seen an entire James Bond, Tarzan, or Steven Seagal movie - click.

I don’t go to a lot of movies, never have.

I waked out of Pink Flamingos in med school. I remember thinking it was horrible and disgusting. It was being shown on campus, went with a bunch of friends. I don’t even remember what it was about or what was so horrible but it just was.

I never understood American Beauty. Did not walk out but never got it. Never tried watching it again.

I don’t go to “horror” films, or watch them on video. Just don’t get into them.

I irritated my husband to no end when we were dating I was always tired (school and work) and fell asleep during Apocalypse Now. He did not pay to take me to another movie for YEARS.

I just told DH there was no way I would go to Inception because I keep seeing it compared to The Matrix which I did not enjoy or really understand at all.

Started watching Amelie the other night and turned it off…just strange.

Emeraldkity4, I agree with this.

“I don’t see many movies, so these are fairly dated for what it is worth. but I find ( some) television to be better written & cast than many current movies.”

I can’t remember which movies I have walked out on because I didn’t watch those movies. :)

I liked My Dinner With Andre though. Two people talking about different ways to live a life.

I did see it a long time ago though.

Loved Annie Hall.

Don’t get the StarWars thing.

I was a teenager when Star Wars came out. We (my particular peer group) loved those movies and waited in many a line to see them. As a middle aged parent now, I can’t say I can explain the appeal. But I could say that now about the *Twilight *series. What appeals to one age group will be repulsive to another.

The Man Who Fell to Earth, starring David Bowie. I was in high school, and it was a double feature with a Robbie Bensons movie (can’t remember the name, he was a scholarship basketball player who was in over his head?) Anyway, I’ll never figure out why those two movies were on a double bill. I don’t remember much about The Man Who Fell to Earth except that it made absolutely no sense had nudity and sex scenes I’d never seen before - which at the age of 15, was pretty much any sex scene, haha.

Would have walked out of American Beauty, except that we had rented it. Did not “get” it at all, and thought Kevin Spacey’s fixation on his daughter’s cheerleader friend was creepy.

Walked out of Pulp Fiction and Three Kings (too violent).
Got stuck in “Repo Man” but closed my eyes for much of it. Eww.

I found American Beauty hard to watch. I don’t think I would watch it again.

But I kind of liked it when Kevin Spacey decided to work at a job that didn’t use his mind much. Kind of dropping out of the rat race has appeal too.

Loved Forest Gump & Dr. Zhivago

Absolutely hated Silence of the Lambs and Full Metal Jacket. Made myself fall asleep/
