Movies & TV Shows You Just Don't Get

Not a big fan of movies that leave things up in the air, where in the end people are just as miserable as they were at the start of the movie, or where situations are unresolved and they leave it up to the audience to figure out what happens, to me that is a copout (Gravity drove me up the wall)…anything with Hugh Grant in it (other than Florence Foster Jenkins) or Kiera Knightly. I didn’t like Downton Abbey, in the end I didn’t find anyone who was particularly sympathetic and the drama around the family didn’t make me do anything but yawn. I watched half an episode of “The Affair” and wondered how they found something full of unnatractive characters and non compelling acting.

Not a big fan of most reality shows, seems to be they are more scripted than real shows (or appear to be).

Never understood the appeal of Jerry Lewis movies.

While I like some Coen Brothers movies (I chuckled at Hail, Caesar!), others left me cold, especially “A Serious Man”, at the end of those movies I am like “WTH was the point of this?”

The American Idol and The Voice programs, to me they didn’t have much drama and appeared to be basically staged to me, not real.

Basically my tv/movie tastes are the same as Doschitos.

We love The Big Bang Theory in our house- we’re STEM people and it hit a chord for us nerds. Although as it has involved (and more women get roles) H isn’t as enamored.

So many TV shows and movies I know nothing about because they don’t seem worth it. Therefore can’t list titles off the top of my head and certainly won’t go to the trouble of researching them.So many reality shows- still can’t fathom how those K… people got famous. Who cares about some guy/girl with good looks choosing someone who has good looks but nothing else we see.

I also can easily ignore so many guy shows- the violence, mandatory forever car chase scene…

I want to be entertained and happy. There is enough bad stuff/misery… no need to be horrified, outraged etc. I also hate those obvious predictable dumb people, physical comedy, stereotyped character movies. There were some fun scenes in Animal House but I think men/boys like that sort of movie better.

I remember “the good old days” when the Learning Channel wasn’t just an acronym of TLC- they actually tried to instruct/inform. Now so many reality based shows are dumber and dumber, shock value…

And just so you don’t think TV and movies were better back then- they were just as bad. Cable reruns prove it.

Nope

Nope

OK, that one I’ll grant you, I did like, but I think it was more because of Matt Damon than Ridley Scott. But hey, that’s why they make chocolate and vanilla.
