Yes, Codrescu was at LSU.

I doubt Cumudgeon’s D would go into orthopaedics knowing she’d have to operate on goats as part of her training. Too close to home for her!

Andrei Codrescu–yep.

Bailey White was another one.

The other woman’s name is one of those that doesn’t sound like it’s written and dang if I can access it.

OK–I gave up and went to the NPR website. It’s Vertamae Grosvenor. (pronounced grovner)

Curm: your move-in story could make a good movie. But don’t let Chevy Chase play you - that’d be the kiss of death at the box office.

Our move-in stories have been relatively bland. Since our S is in school clear across the country we had to fly. No great stories there. First year we got to campus early and did the usual scurrying around to get things that we found we needed and the room had space for (I posted that at the time, several years ago). At the end of that year our S and friends rented a space at a local storage facility and only took back what he needed for the summer. Since that first year, only he’s made the trip back to school. However, at the end of this year he/we’ll have to deal with what to do with the stuff he doesn’t want to take back and can’t sell or give away (maybe they’ll have one of those donation days).

Cur, if you start a regular blog I probably wouldn’t have time to follow it regularly and I wouldn’t be able to afford the $ 200 therapy fee you could charge.

Keep up the good work.

curmudgeon, true to my word, I read your moving story to H and D as we were cruising (no tieups!) up the NJ Turnpike. H was laughing so hard it was difficult for him to keep his eyes on the road. We all agreed you should keep writing!

I feel a little odd reviving this thread, but: 1. It is darn funny, and 2. I am so happy to find that someone else seems to think that Rhodes has about 29,995 speed bumps too many.

Maybe Curm will add phase 2 to this thread, or start a new thread, if his daughter is allowing him to help move her up to New Haven to attend Yale Med School!

(He’s getting closer to that surgical dr’s condo…although…I think he’s stated his daughter is more interested in research now. Condo may be smaller…unless she gets a big pharmacy company job!)

Curm: How about a book? Travels with Curm. They’re wonderful.

Thanks for reviving this thread. It was a wonderful first read for me. How was the move to med school, Curmud? I can’t believe the time gone by. She’s about half way through now isn’t she?

Lazarus? Is that you, Lazarus? lol

I’ll be doing this one from afar …it appears. She’ll stop outside Nashville and meet her college roomie. Next stop will be outside Cleveland to meet some seemingly un-random boy who will caravan with her to New Haven for the un-pack and large furniture shopping adventure.

A page is turning. A chapter is ending. But it’s still a pretty good read.

I would say so, curm.

Congratulations and God bless!

Too bad you won’t be making this trip, Curm. I was waiting for a story about those mud flaps driving through metro New York and arriving in New Haven.

Romance in the air?

We have a division of labor and that’s not my department. ;)
