MT-Classical Voice combination

My daughter is a freshman at NYU Steinhardt this year. There, the MT degree is actually Vocal Performance with concentration in Music Theatre. Half of the group of 26 have a classical concentration and the other half MT. However, many of their classes are taken together: piano, choir, diction, aural composition, theory, etc. and all are required to take private vocal lessons that begin with solid classical training before heading into musical theatre. They are also required to audition for both musicals and opera. This program is very different from the Tisch program at NYU.
