not attacking you at all - the process is very confusing. it is even confusing to MOC’s. IF your MOC uses a “primary” - his terminology - just know that is not in the federal law and the academies are not required to be bound by it.

Only the academies know how the WCS is calculated. In all seriousness - your son’s 7th semester transcripts will be considered. Don’t worry if the school does not re-rank the class, you don’t have control over that.
Noms aren’t due till end of January - the slates all have to be evaluated and that takes time.

Consider this - the MOC ranks nominees 1-10 and the appt is offered to #1 in early Feb. This candidate ultimately rejects the appt the end of March and admissions needs to fill the slate. If the MOC ranked then #2 is offered. But what if #3 updated her file with academic and athletic excellence that occurred in Jan and Feb. Her WCS could be higher than #2’s but by law the academy must appt #2.
IF the MOC did not rank then the academy would look at the rest of the slate and their currect WCS and award the appt to the one with the highest score.

Admissions is a process that is very fluid and goes on from about Dec right through to May and sometimes even June. MOC’s are through with their process usually in Dec or January at the latest.
