Multivitamins are a waste, but some supplements are not

Bunsen: see the part about being a regular blood donor. I know exactly what my iron levels are. The multivitamin is either doing its job or not harming what is being done, and I fall into the “don’t fix that which is not broken” mentality.

Iron pills has never worked for me. For one, I would stop going to the bathroom, iron cements my intestines.
I totally agree with “don’t fix that which is not broken”. I have taken high dosages of A C E for several decades, I am not stopping them.

I don’t take a multivitamin, but do take 3000 IU of D and 1000 mcg of B-12 on the advice of my endocrinologist, along with 500 mg of C because I like it, and an eye vitamin to ward off macular degeneration. So they probably add up to a super multivitamin! My 92 year old mother was a proponent of vitamins, and I agree they may not help everyone, but certainly don’t hurt. I don’t like fish oil capsules, but take liquid lemon flavored fish oil.

I take B12 pills (used to do shots, might have to go back to them) and iron pills sometimes. Luckily, my iron levels have been tip-top the last few times I’ve had bloodwork done

The b12 supplements I’ve taken since I was young. Something about my body not being able to absorb B12 properly. There’s medical terms attached to it but I don’t remember or care what they are :).

BTW, I am also taking 500 mg of C (as part of my pill).
