Music Industry Major

i’m a freshman music industry major at northeastern. i applied to nyu and syracuse for music industry and a bunch of other schools to major in history. once i knew i was dead set on pursuing music industry, it was between neu, nyu, and su. i was accepted at syracuse and rejected at nyu and i ultimately chose neu for the top-ranked co-op program and because of its location in the heart of boston. you don’t need any formal training in an instrument when applying for music industry at neu. i had zero knowledge in music theory and very little experience in instruments so its not a problem. you learn the basics/fundamentals of music theory and ear training your first two years to become proficient in theory and composition and literature and music history but you start out your first year taking level one music industry courses (basic) and you continue with industry courses and specifics (such as law, recording, tech, music supervision, etc) as you progress as a student. and whats great about neu is co-op! i’m excited to get experience in the music business and i can stay in boston or go anywhere else in the world for co-op. plus, we have amazing teachers who are very experienced and knowledgeable in the music industry. neu is a FINE choice for any students looking to become a music industry major, esp. for those who want work experience and for those who have little to no knowledge in music theory.
