I teach at James Madison University in VA… east, but more mid-Atlantic/ Southern than north… I do not teach in the School of Music, but I know they have a strong Music Industry major… however, students in the major must be admitted on a primary instrument to the School of Music. Students who are not highly proficient on an instrument (or voice) Can declare the music industry minor… often in conjunction with business for studetns who want to go into music management or theatre for students who want to pursue recording and live-mix sound design opportunities.
