If you are skilled at programming, pursuing that avenue might position you to find a nice blend of skills. If you are asking if a MIS equips one to actually do the work of creating and managing a successful sie, my answer would be “only if you have the capital to hire talented web programmers to manage.” On the other hand, if you asked the best preparation to create the infrastructure yourself, I would likely suggest programming directly as more specifically useful.
