<p>Florida State University has a great music and composition program paired with a good musical theater school. University of Michigan also seems to foster that sort of creativity. I was there this past weekend and there is a senior who is a BFA musical theater major who has written music for student-run productions as well as being a music director and accompaniest. At Michigan they encourage you to explore whatever aspect of musical theater is most interesting to you. Also, at the University of Southern California they have good music and theater and there’s actually a class on Musical Theater Writing and Composition taught by Jason Robert Brown, so you might want to check that out.</p>
