My dad refuses to pay for college!!!!

Please you go for legal steps and hire one lawyer for this issue. So, you have one chance for all payment.

I’m not sure what a lawyer will do for the OP.

An easy way to determine if a school is FAFSA only is to use the college board web site. Enter the name of the college you are interested in, then click on Cost and Financial aid. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the section which lists Financial Aid forms. If it only lists FAFSA you’re in luck. If it lists CSS/Financial Aid Profile and/or other forms you will most likely need to provide financial info from both parents.

My understanding is that Texas will not require a non-custodial parent to pay for college. Many states, primarily in the East will. So I agree with thumper1

Thanks for the responses, I cannot get into UT most likely because i am not in the top 10%. Maybe A&M (Although i hate the culture)

I wouldn’t be too worried about state colleges wanting a non-custodial statement. I haven’t found one yet that asks for a non-custodial form. Even UNC, one of the very few states that ask for the Profile, does not ask for a non-custodial.

scottaa, do you mean they won’t be asking about my dad’s financial situation?

Yes. State schools will typically not ask about the divorced parent that you do not live with.

excellent.
