Back at mskcc for fever. Fever is a big deal for a patient like me. They all get excited. CT scan showed abscess (sp) . They now installed a drainage pipe and are marianating me in anti bacteria solutions. Now my abdominal area are supporting three separate devices and appliances. Believe it or not one of them is a vacuum machine. I feel like a borg. With all this bits of technological stuff attached to my body… “Resistance is futile”

Will stay here a few days. I hope by the time I am discharged I lose two out of three appliances.

you are the most wry writer. Please remember that there have been many Fetching Borgs starring as love interests in recent films. I am sure you remain fetching and the perfect combo of tough and tender while marinating.

Sunrise, I mentioned upthread that H went through similar bowel surgery in the spring. Many of your complications, he also went through. Perforation, multiple appliances, drains, abscesses. He was most depressed about the CT scan discovering the abscesses, and the installation of the drains (he had 2). BUT - I will say, that it was just after the drains did their job, that he was first able to make REAL progress on the way to recovery. Hang in there and let everything do what it’s supposed to. You are right. Resistance is futile. Peace to you, from northern Connecticut. I think about you often.

Aw sweetie, that stinks, no way around it. You have a wicked sense of humor in every post; no wonder doctors & staff adore you. And no wonder you’ve kicked every setback to the curb! Now about that kicking…perhaps you kicked too hard with your last post, so take it easy & you’ll be back up to Rockette moves before you know it. Sending lots of healing vibes your way.

sunrise, I hope that you are recovering well and that this is the last setback! Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress. There are so many people here who care so much for you.

Thinking of you and wishing you the strength to heal and the patience to endure what you must in order to get well. As challenging as all this is, I know you are grateful to have doctors that don’t mess around, Borg technology notwithstanding.
